Relaxing

We wake up every morning to a cacophony of dogs barking and roosters crowing, this morning it was 7:25am. We seem to be sleeping 11 hours here, not up at 5:45 every day like in Costa Rica.

Jay and Trev prep for leaving for their kite surfing lesson while the girls have breakfast and I finish the blog from yesterday making edits and adding photos from my iPad. I'm actually finding it easier to write from my phone because I can just copy and paste from the 'notes' to the website and then do a rough edit on the phone before I add the photos from the app on the iPad. I don't think I'll use my computer going forward.

After the guys leave I decide to negotiate with the girls - reading for iPad time. Paige had to read her whole book while Sophie had to read half of hers to get 30 mins of iPad time this morning. They did their reading, disappeared and then when I called them back they read again and then we went in the pool to play frisbee, which is a daily activity.

When Jay and Trev got back from their kite surfing we went to lunch. We headed just south of Eagle beach to a restaurant well rated on Trip Advisor called Ricardo's on the Beach.

We got there and our server Alex said we just missed happy hour - 2 for 1 - by two minutes so he got the bartender to honour it and I got two drinks brought to me. I ordered the piña colada but Alex recommended I try the Natural Bridge, which has "more stuff in it" and is "more interesting". It had banana liquor, rum and vodka and ice cream!  They were delicious.

The restaurant was located in a small beach resort full of OLD people. The whole "resort" was a little sad.  There was a handicapped sign on the beach...that's the clientele at this hoteI.  I said to Jay at one point "this is where vacations come to die". This was after he told me if I ever book a vacation at a place like this it would be the last one we ever took. But, like the two restaurants before it DID have a play area for the girls which has been awesome.

I was talking to Jay during lunch and he said a swooping bird almost hit me in the head. I didn't see it, Trev was impressed that I hadn't flinched. Jay said "It would have killed you. I could have claimed the life insurance right there". The girls asked what he was talking about and he said it's much more likely that I will collect the life insurance, because he will die first and Paige said "yes, Moms of twins live longer". And Jays said "yeah, You'll be saying bye to Daddy likely before Mommy" and she said . "Bye Daddy". Lol.

After lunch we went to Eagle Beach, the closest beach to us and just one beach up from lunch. The girls had a good time in the water and in the sand.

The place we are going tonight for dinner, El Gaucho, is an Argentinian Grill where you need a reservation a month in advance (or to eat at 5pm lol which is when our res is so we can get home in time for bed!)

We came home after the beach, had some sours, the boys had naps and Trev said he was not feeling well, that he sun stroke or maybe something wrong with his lunch too. I said "Remember Shane got that parasite down here and he lost all that weight?"  "Why did you have to tell me that?  He just texted me too - how's it going - like he knows."  I told him to drink lots of water and he felt well enough to come out to dinner and felt better after. The first day we were here he missed his hairline with the sunscreen and they had the front top of the jeep roof off so the sun beating down on them. Trev has a red ring around the top of his head.

We get to the restaurant and it's huge and empty. Lol, apparently it will fill up. On the way over here I took a screenshot of all the roads Aruba has...you can't get lost in Aruba. It's a good thing we have google maps is all I'm saying!

Jay ordered a 38oz porterhouse steak and so after the bread came to the table said "I'm sticking by my one piece of bread rule". You had two pieces, Trev pointed out . "Well one bun cut in half, so that's really just on piece". It was garlic bread served with Chimichurri and pickled onions. Yum.

Jay was very concerned he wouldn't finish his steak but demoed it and had room for dessert. Trev and I ordered deep fried cheese cake to share, the girls ordered the chocolate fudge layer cake to share and Jay asked the server if she would recommend the Oreo cookie cheesecake or the deep fried cheesecake and she said the deep fried. He hummed and hawed but ordered the deep fried. When dessert came they only brought 1 deep fried cheesecake and 3 forks. Jay said "Best mistake of the evening right there. I didn't get my own deep fried cheese cake".  It was really really good.

We left the restaurant just as a party of 12 was arriving with 6 adults and 6 kids who will all be up later than us tonight!  I said I wanted a photo so Jay and the girls smiled...I said no, not of you guys, of them!

We got home and I made our first piña coladas. I think tomorrow we need to used the cheap rum. You have to put so much Ron Zacapa in it to make it taste like rum that you're facked.

Myah had texted me when we were at dinner to say Hello and I told her we would be home by 7:30 if she wanted to FaceTime the girls. So while we played Go Fish on the patio Myah was on Sophie's team. Then Myah showed us the art she did with her Nana today which was really great.

Jay put the girls to bed (refer back to the Ron Zacapa) and he went back outside. The girls snuck in to our room and said they couldn't get to sleep so I said "Hurry and crawl in for a snuggle before Daddy gets back". They did and then were kicked out a few minutes later.

My coffee was NOT decaf with dessert so I read for a little bit. I don't know yet if I'll have to reread it today or if I'll remember it all!
