Yesterday Thomas let us know that the clocks would be set back an hour last night, so we gained an hour as we slept, which is great for us because we have been eating dinner at 9pm and going to bed around 11pm and to sleep at 12am...which made for a few late mornings.
I woke up this morning at 7:00am to use the bathroom and went back to bed until just after 8:30am. Paige came into bed and I finished adding photos to yesterdays blog and posted it. Jay isn't feeling well, he's tired, has a headache and had chills last night in his sleep - in short, he has a man cold. Remember Sophie and how we dragged her all over France for 7 days? Yeah.
Paige and I, after confirming absolutely no one else was going to go out and get us breakfast, left to go. get. breakfast. for. all. of. us. We walked down to the MonoPrix but found it to be closed on Sunday so went across the street to Starbucks.
I got a decaf flat white and a plain croissant for me, a pressed orange juice and yogurt for sick Jay and mini chocolate cakes for the girls (its vacation!). When we arrived back home Sophie said "You know I could have just had my Kinder Egg" and Paige piped up and said "NO! Not for brea....oh" she had spotted her chocolate cake out of the corner of her eye and grinned sheepishly and I said "As she eats her chocolate cake for breakfast!"
I did a little bit of work, Jay read in bed groaning every once in a while to make his story stick, the girls got a little bit of iPad time, Mom updated the photos on her blog. I was looking up things to do today after that, but its raining out a little, so it has to be inside. At one point Mom is reading Sophie her blog from yesterday (pdufton.blogspot.ca) and she just walks away at some point. lol. There was a lot of information on the tour yesterday and Mom got even more of the history than I did. We agree on the National Natural History Museum and all set off. Jay is humming and hawing on if he is going to come or not and when he gets downstairs and sees the rain he goes back to bed. The rest of us get umbrellas and Mom has 3 ponchos in her bag, then the light at the intersection down the road turns red an an available cab stops directly in front of us, we figure its a sign and pile in.
Paige points and says “What’s this for?”
We get to the Museum and he drops us off at the beginning of the Jardin Des Plantes and we need to walk through the entire park to get to the building at the end. Its rainy so we're really thankful for the ponchos.
The girls were STARVING so we got some frites from the food truck in the square and shared them before we went in.
When we get to the front we stand in line for a few minutes at the self service kiosk but it doesn't move so we abort and go to the longer, but quicker, general admission line up.
The building itself is extremely cool. The girls had to go to the washroom but didn't like that the lights turned off automatically so had a bit of a hissy fit. I said really, the most scary thing about the museum is the bathroom? They both said yes, that was until the "thunder storm" the building lights changed to reflect a day, from dawn until night and at some point the lights flickered slightly and you could hear the rumbling of thunder. I like the photo of Sophie that looks like she's being stalked by the lion.

After we had walked all 3 levels of the museum we went into the children's section but but I found it a little too juvenile for the girls, so tried to get us out of there as soon as possible. As we left the gardens we saw this statue and Mom said "Oh, that's not a very friendly bear"...or it was a VERY friendly bear.. (the hunter looks naked).

From there we walked to Notre Dame along the river and then caught a taxi from close to there back to the apartment.

Jay was hungry and asked me if we were coming back to eat together. The girls want sushi and Mom and I would be ok with that too but Jay's done with sushi so we'll go for Italian. lol. We really should just go to Italy.
We're back and have a snack, I've done a little over 8,000 steps today - Jay looks at his watch, he's done 289. Wow.

Now I'm writing up the blog for today, the girls are both writing up their Paris journals for yesterday - Jay is helping Sophie but she keeps asking me for help and I tell her "I'm not your person". We made a reservation for a nearby Italian restaurant for dinner at 6:30pm (which would be 7:30pm yesterday still way early but we didn't really have lunch just the frites and then the boursin we had with some crackers when we got back).
Sophie took a few photos of the scooter in the restaurant. She’s feeling better now that she’s passed her sickness on. Lol
I shared a beef carpaccio with Mom and then had an eggplant bake appetizer as my main. Mom and Jay both got French Onion soup, seriously.
Sophie wanted to go get a Crepe after dinner now that she’s feeling well so we walked a couple of blocks to one I found on TripAdvisor called Crepery L’Opera. A tiny hole in the wall place.
We went back to the apartment, I ordered a car to come pick us up in the morning, we packed our stuff and went to bed.
At 7am I was awoken by the recycle truck. Jay thought someone was vacuuming in the apartment above us.
We leave for the airport at 9am so lots of time to get dressed, showered and organized. Our flight leaves at 11:45am and we’ve checked in already and flew carry-on so no worries.
Goodbye Paris!
