Of course the Easter Bunny found us in France, so the girls had fun this morning finding all the eggs and candy that rascally old bunny hid in the strangest of places, like in their shoes and sleeves!
We walked down to the waterfront and did a tour around Nice on a little train buggy.
After the tour we went back through a park that we had seen for the girls to go on the carousel.
After lunch we went and walked up to the park a little bit further - this beautiful park with the carousel at the water goes up at least a few kilometers and has all sorts of features and fun things for the kids all the way up. It has a misting area next and then further up a series of fountains that shoot water out of the ground and further up again a huge wooden playground with 5 or 6 huge structures for the kids to play with. We planned to go to the big whale slide and fountains later with my parents so we walked from the park to the Train Station and got there just as my parents were coming out of the building, so the timing worked out perfect. We said our hellos and then walked to the apartment where Dad and Jay had their afternoon naps while we walked down to the market to pick up some more water and some pain au chocolat since my Mom had been telling the girls that they could have chocolate for breakfast every day while they are in France!
After picking up a few things at the market and spending a few minutes down at the sea because Sophie wanted to give Gram a 'tour' we went back and got Grampa and Jay and then went out again.
On our 'tour' - Sophie said to Gram "Have you ever been to Nice before Gram?" "No, I've never been here..." Sophie said "Well, I've been here". It was so cute.
The girls are really interested in Babushka dolls, they've seen them in a few places, but big ones..
Once we got Jay and Dad and headed out and we walked and walked and walked and found the park - luckily Nice is in a grid pattern, so if you know where the water is you can pretty much find anything eventually! So we found the park and the girls played on the whale and in the fountains.
Paige was getting VERY bold with the fountains, which were lit and would go up and down squirting water at different levels but in no particular pattern. She would step on them and lean over them to touch them...she was warned, but we were hoping she would get it at just the wrong time and get a shot of water! I did have an extra set of clothes in the backpack that she didn't know about, so it would have been ok. I have a video - but other than her being excited about the thrill and us laughing hoping she would catch a soaker its not too interesting!
It started to rain while we were at the park, so we booked it to the closest restaurant that looked good and went in and had dinner. Everyone's meal was delicious, so it was a good choice. After dinner we walked back to the apartment - half way there we ran into Jay's business partner Mark and his daughter Jordana who are at the conference as well. They're staying in Monte Carlo but came to Nice for the day and we happened to run into them...totally bizarre.
Now we're back at the apartment, its 10:30pm and the girls are still awake and crazy and no amount of threatening them is getting them to go to sleep. Seriously, these girls ran a half marathon today and they are still wound up!
Tomorrow we're taking the train to Monte Carlo at 12.25pm, its only a 30 minute train ride and then we'll get picked up and transferred to the hotel.
Off to bed to play my Dragon game (don't ever start playing it, I've wasted hours of my life on this game in the last 2 weeks)...bon nuit.
