We got up this morning, sat around (big surprise) and waited until brunch, the last meal that Julia was going to prepare for us. We had scrambled eggs, french toast (at Sophie's request) and bacon, and it was delicious.
As we were sitting on the patio, the group reading the blog (about what happened during their day yesterday) Trev turned to Dwayne and said "Oh, Avery pooped? Great!" Even they are getting their news for the day from the blog, too funny.
Trevor introduced the girls to Candy Crush on his phone, I'm not sure when or where or why, but Sophie said "Uncle Trevor, can I use your phone?" And I said no, its just after waking up, you don't need to use his phone. Two minutes later, she said "can I use Uncle Trevor's phone?" Ok, so the answer to that question two minutes ago was no, so the answer is still no - imagine that.
Last night I had emailed Julie, the concierge (not to be confused with Julia, the cook) about a good beach for the kids. She recommended Sandy Lane Bay near the Sandy Lane Hotel, so after brunch we headed down to that area, parked and found a nice place in the shade to set our bags. A lady came up to us and asked if we would like some chairs and an umbrella and we all said "No, we're ok.." and I asked how much they were...10 Bajan dollars per chair and 10 Bajan for the umbrella..so a total of 30 Bajan for 2 chairs and an umbrella? Like $15 US?? Totally hook us up with a couple of chairs and an umbrella..Lea was so happy.
We had a tonne of fun at the beach, and Sandy Lane lived up to its name once we found our spot. It was deep, with some fun rolling waves and sandy entry. Avery was building a sand castle that once Trev and Jay joined in got totally out of control. But, can you see what's wrong with this picture?
Should the 3 year old be going back and forth to the ocean unsupervised to get water for the sand castle????
At one point Jay was the only one working on the sand castle.
We left the beach around 2pm and went into Holetown on the way home and had a late lunch/early dinner and then went back to the house. We sat down on the patio (also known as assumed the position) and Trev said "So how long do we have to sit here before its appropriate to have something to drink?" I replied "pretty much as long as it takes to get some ice in a glass and stir the pitcher?" - Excellent. He sat down 2 minutes later, took a sip and said "Oh yeah, it just keeps getting better and better". Dwayne asked what's going to happen next week, do I think that my Mom will measure up to Trevor as a drinking partner..I said "Well, she emailed and said that she would bring some extra Zantac, so I think she'll give it a go!" (But I'm not hopeful) Trev then tried to convince Dwayne to try a sip of our tequila sours, which he declined (with a sour face), and I asked him if he likes tequila, which he doesn't - so he would absolutely not like our drinks, but I still dared him to try it and then double dog dared him for good measure...he didn't try it though. And then when he put down his beer and went into the other room I told Trev that he should replace his beer with tequila sour inside and see what happens, so then the next 10 minutes were spent setting Dwayne up for the 'swap'..and once we did it and he took a swig of his "beer" he made a super sour face and spit it out on the grass. It was really funny..very 8th grade, but really funny.
Shortly after that Dwayne asked to use Trev's iPad in order to check in online for their flight tomorrow and let Trev know that he missed a FaceTime call from his parents. So Dwayne used the iPad and Trev FaceTimed his parents from his iPhone. Trev showed his Mom the patio and said "Here's Dana"..and I waved..and she said "She's not having another tequila is she?" (I can hear you..and Oh, so I see you've been reading the blog..) and followed it with "You guys are going to be pickled when you get home"..I sure will be after another week down here! I told Trev later, your Mom totally made the blog.
Finally, Dwayne sat down after dealing with Avery and having a bit of a conversation about child care - Avery is 3..so really its anybody's game in their house for the next year - 3 was horrible. He said "Jay's in bed..Leanne's in bed..I think I'm on my way to bed..." I said "Of course you are, its that time, its.." consult watch..."8:10" WOW. We managed to talk about how horrible the age of 3 was for another hour and then we all went to bed...its really that bad (being the parent of a 3 year old..)
But it was a nice beach!
