Trevor has the girls from Tuesday night when we left Toronto until Friday morning when he drops them off to school. From Friday after school until Saturday after Hockey they are Julia's responsibility and then she hands them off to my Mom who has them Saturday evening until Sunday after hockey at which point Sarah takes them home for Ellie's birthday party and will drop them off again at 4pm on Sunday to Trevor who has them again until Thursday morning when we arrive home.
It takes a village and we truly appreciate our village! Trevor says the girls have been on their best behaviour but he's suspect of their tooth brushing ability and that their telling the truth as to what is a snack vs a treat (they're all classified as snacks). The girls say everything is going well and Paige told her dance teacher, Nancy, that Trevor is the only man in Uxbridge that she trusts - lol. Trev's been on a few dates with a new girl - I said to him that someone trusting them with their kids for a week is huge in the "+" column for him. He said to me last night that the kids are the best behaved he knows but he's still exhausted and has a huge respect for parents - we had 8 years to build up to it though and he got thrown straight into the lions den.
Anyway, so I texted Trevor some instructions for in the morning thinking if I just got them off my chest I'd be able to get back to sleep, but no, I was up for a couple of hours and wouldn't fall back asleep. When I finally did I slept again until 9:30am and woke Jay up so we could go down for breakfast. This morning we were offered the scrambled eggs again but both declined and just had the mini croissant, fruit salad and I had coffee while Jay had the fresh squeezed orange juice - we both added yogurt to our fruit salad this morning and it was perfect. We went back to our room to pack up as Manulife was sending a car for us at 11am to take us over to the conference hotel.
Once all checked in at the Four Seasons we went up to our room and unpacked -
I sent the picture afterwards to Julia McDonald, who creates all of our workouts for us, and let her know that I had done it and she said "First of all...amazing!! Second of all you included burpees??!! Woohooo!!" I hate burpees. But they're effective, especially when I have no weights to work with and am doing all body weight exercises. I used the water bottles as 2 lb weights, but then I started to drink them during the workout so they got lighter and lighter as it went on!
When Jay got back up from the gym and we had both showered we went down to the restaurant in the hotel and had lunch. We shared a charcuterie board with brie and havarti on it, proscuitto and some local honey that is harvested on an island where they only grow one flower so the honey is very pure, I had a caprese salad and Jay had a cob type salad. Then we had seen the table next to us get a lava cake, so Jay ordered the Nutella lava cake (which they call a volcano cake here) and I had a bite, which was delicious!
After lunch we just went for a quick walk to a mall down the street, there isn't really too much within walking distance to us and Jay's flip flops were giving him a rubbie from the 3.5km walk to the restaurant last night. There wasn't anything of interest at the mall so we came back to the room so we could each do a little bit of work and then we had about 2 hours before we had to get ready for the welcome reception and dinner tonight so we watched an on demand movie in the room (WarCraft - don't bother) and then got dressed for dinner.
The reception was in the old Mansion part of the Four Season's hotel, we're staying across the courtyard in the new tower where all the rooms are, but they hold events in La Mansion on the property. They did the welcome speech and had the Canadian Ambassador to Argentina there to say a few words as well and then let us know that they had custom fitted leather jackets for everyone as the welcome gift, so everyone went into a room with 4-5 different styles for the men and the women and 10 different colours to choose from and you got measured for a custom fit and they'll deliver our jackets in the next few days to our rooms! I got a brick red coloured jacket in a contemporary style - I'll put a picture in when I receive it! Jay and I both weren't sure about the jacket thing, but because you got to choose your own colour I think it will be really cool.
Dinner was a buffet with some small mains, like tapas, being served by the waiters milling around. Jay and I both just had a little bit of meat and cheese and bread again, not a big meal. We had had cheese, bread, fruit and sparkling wine delivered to our room in the afternoon but it was right when we arrived home from lunch so we didn't have any...does anyone know if you can bring sparkling wine home on the airplane in cargo? Not sure if the cork will pop under the pressure - I'll have to google it, because Jay won't have any and I don't want to open it for just a glass for me, so I'm thinking I'll just bring it home since I have room in my suitcase (maybe not anymore with the new leather jacket though!). We snuck out of the dinner reception around 9:30 and Jay's now watching Netflix while I type out the blog for the day.
Tomorrow Jay has a business session from 9 - 12 that he has to attend. We were trying to get massages for tomorrow afternoon but they have no availability. When we stopped by tonight I asked her if she has time for 1 tomorrow in the morning, so I'll find out in the morning if I can have a massage while he is in the session. I'll do my workout at 9am and she said that she might have time at 10am for me (sorry about your luck Jay).
I so love reading your blogs Dana. I can't wait to read about what I did on my next vacation since I probably won't remember much of it anyway.
