Walking, Walking, Walking

We slept in this morning until 9:44am (7:44am home time) and got ready to go downstairs for breakfast, which is available from 9:00-10:30am on the terrace.  We had fresh squeezed orange juice, a mini croissant with a sugar glaze on it which was so good, and a fruit salad with blueberries, strawberries and banana.  Then Veronica came and asked if we wanted scrambled eggs, sausage and toast - I said no, but Jay had some, so I just added a decaf coffee to my breakfast to round it out while he ate his second breakfast, lol.

At this point I remarked that Jay is in Day 2 with his new Dillon Football shirt on as well.  I think I'll be seeing a lot of this shirt in the near future (Go Panthers!).

We decided that we would walk today to the Japanese Gardens and Rose Gardens, more for a walk and destination than to specifically see them.  First I wanted to just head to the mall quickly because I hadn't brought a casual bag to put my phone and keys, etc in when we're out for the day.  The mall is just about 2 blocks away, and the blocks are really short.

Right off the bat though I got confused as to where we were headed.  For some reason I thought that where we are staying is the side of the city we needed to stay on to get to the Gardens, so after hitting the mall I backtracked to the apartment and we walked about 2km the wrong way before realizing we had gone the wrong way - so we turned around and headed back the way we came, back past the apartment and past the mall and another 2km to our actual destination.  It was a nice walk, I did end up getting a bag in a little shop along the way, its a beautiful day and since we had just eaten breakfast before leaving we did the Japanese Gardens before heading to lunch.

After the gardens I checked the Near Me feature on Trip Advisor to find a restaurant to eat lunch at around 1pm.  We went to Mishiguene, a Mediterranean restaurant, for lunch.  We had some amazing pitas (fluffy and thick) with hummus brought to the table and then I ordered a ravioli which had sweet onions, chicken and potato (like a perogie but boiled), I only ate half of them, it was so good.  Jay had a pastrami sandwich with fries - the pastrami was in sliced like you would find in a stirfry (about a cm thick by 2cm long) and it would melt in your mouth and had a really tangy sauce on it.  Jay took the top piece of bread off and ate it with his knife and fork which seemed to go much better than his attempt at picking it up!

After lunch we walked to the Rose Gardens (past the Japanese Gardens again) to check them out.  There are 250 varieties of roses in bloom right now, which is their Spring here in Argentina. The air smelled so good!

And then walked back to the apartment another 3.5km.  My Bellabeat says we've walked 18,175 steps today so far and its 3:45pm right now (my iPhone says we've covered 11.1km and was only off by about 100 steps).  We checked out online the restaurant that we're going to tonight with Greg and his wife and a few others from Manulife and its 3.5km from the apartment (38 minutes to walk), so we'll head out around 6:15pm to meet them at 7 at Piegari tonight - Italian, my fav.  We might end up taking a taxi back, but we know from the first ride with Veronica that we can only pay in Pesos and we don't have many, so we're not sure we can get a taxi and might have to walk! (though I'm sure we can buy a water in a store with USD and get pesos back for a taxi if Jay is really averse to walking later).  15.5 pesos is 1USD.

The whole city is covered in graffiti. I took this photo sometime during the initial walk the wrong way.

Jay has now assumed the position. He has another 30 mins while I finish writing and have a shower before we need to get ready for dinner.

Neither of us put on sunblock and we got it today. The back of our necks and noses the worst. I didn't even bring sunblock except the little spf 20 that came in my Arbonne travel set. So we'll be using that up tomorrow and buy a little sunblock probably tonight.

So we decided after walking the 3.5 km to the restaurant that we would find a away to get pesos to get a taxi back, but we had tried earlier using our ATM cards and they wouldn't work, and the reason why they wouldn't work was in spanish - so it was either that we were requesting an amount over our daily limit or our pin numbers were incorrect (neither of which I think are accurate, but regardless we can only pay with pesos and we have none).  Jay converted some USD to pesos at the restaurant we went to so we were all good on the way home.

Dinner was delicious - we shared a caprese salad and then I had ÑoQuis (Gnocchi) with stewed beef and a tomato sauce for dinner and Jay had a beef tenderloin with cheesy potatoes.  Then he got a strawberry mousse for dessert that I had a little bit of...I also enjoyed quite a bit of prosecco, which was excellent!

Got back to the room and its bedtime - we walked 26,000 steps today and a little over 15km!  That's a lot of walking.  Plus every time we come back to the apartment (which was only twice today) we climb the stairs to our 5th floor room and the storeys start at 0 so its 6 flights plus the flight inside to get to our room so 7 flights.  I think I deserved that prosecco!

Tomorrow we move to the Four Season's after lunch and the conference starts.  Jay wants to transfer, get checked in, work out and then try to book a massage so we'll try that out for tomorrow.

Day 6 - Tour of a local Island

I set my alarm for 8am today because Jay and I have booked a tour to a local island by speed boat and it leaves around 10am.  I wake up ever...
