12th Birthday Distancing - Day 31 (Day 45)

Thursday April 30th - The girls turn 12!

Jay and I woke up early and wrapped their gifts, we got them Apple Watches off kijiji, used Series 3 watches.  I didn’t do my workout this morning, I waited for the girls to wake up instead.

Paige has taken to sleeping in our room or Sophie’s.  This morning we found her at the bottom of our bed on her makeshift bed of blankets.  So when Jay got up to do a ride I got him to lift her up into our bed so that she could sleep.

The girls finally got up!!  Jay had to run to an appointment at the physio place so then we all waited for him to get home.

First we watched their birthday video.

Then, they got to open their gifts.  We wrapped them in a few different boxes with newspaper because its all we had!

(Here is an interesting comparison, my Mom didn’t think my new phone takes better photos than my old. The pictures above of watching the videos are from Sophie’s iPhone 7 and the ones below are from my iPhone 11pro - I took some with Sophie’s because mine was in the bedroom)

I think they liked them!

Next delivery was their balloons!!

After their balloons were delivered I went into town to pick up our grocery order.  When asked what they wanted for lunch - McFlurries and French Fries!

Our first Birthday Visit!  Auntie was NOT supposed to get anything for the girls for their birthday because she bought them Bluntstones for Christmas so when she made a face at the girls who were behind me as we were chatting I turned around and said “Was there a gift in that card?!”  $50.  Spoiled girls!

Dessert requested was Mars Brownies so I’ll make my regular brownie recipe but add Mars chunks, 6 Mars Bars worth of chunks to be exact!

I also baked Skor Cookies, these are for Kobe for his birthday tomorrow.

Birthday visit number 2!

The Middletons also brought Jay a little care package that included some Ballinger bars!

The Mars Brownies look good - a bit of a Mars Explosion.

Birthday visit number 3!

Well there was one good one in the middle there!

They also had a visit from their hockey Coach, Jim, he brought them cookies from McDonald’s where his son, Jason, works.  And Jim and Maria came for a visit as well but I forgot to take a photo!

The Faust’s came over for dinner, the girls requested stir fry so that’s what we had.  I also stopped in town and got ice cream from Kawartha Dairy when I was in town earlier today - so we had the brownies (which were delicious) with chocolate peanut butter or vanilla ice cream.

Today’s numbers:
22 cases in Uxbridge now, I missed a couple of days, and another death in a long term care facility.

Physical Distancing - Day 30 (Day 44)

7:30am got up this morning to work out with Paige.  She got up pretty well, we had to have a pretty harsh reality check with the girls yesterday about their screen time.  So their phones have to be with us, but they get the additional 30 mins they’re on the treadmill to watch that doesn’t eat into their 45 minutes of screen time a day.

She didn’t quite go as far as Sophie did yesterday but really really close.

I thought that this was funny and sent it to the girls and Myah and Avery since they’re playing so much Mario Kart.

I got all set up for my noon webinar and my 1:30pm webinar today.

My neighbour was going to Costco today and asked me if I needed anything.  I asked for flank steak, chicken and flour.  I didn’t realize when she said to me the other day that I could have some flour because she had lots what we meant.  Now I do.

I sent this photo to Mom and Carrie saying “Its just a matter of perspective” and then sent the one below.

That is a crap tonne of flour.  I already gave a bag to Julia.

I worked on the girls birthday video today - friends, teammates and family have been sending videos for the last few days - I’ve hidden it under the title “Sewing”, I’ll remove the first video and change the name before showing them in the morning.  This was an amazing idea that Avery had for Kobe that I totally stole from her.  What a great gift when they can’t see their friends and family.

Another funny meme...this makes total sense.

I made the girls come with me to run an errand today to get out of the house, around 3:30pm we left and went to pick up sheets at Pam’s on the 4th at Webb Rd and drop them to Chris and Laura for Chris’ Mom, Debbie to pick up - I took the girls to Starbucks as an incentive.  While we were gone their friend Claira stopped by for a birthday surprise which totally sucked that they missed her!

She brought balloons, cards and made a sign and knocked on the door - Jay answered and had to tell her they weren’t here :(

Sophie’s balloon ended up on the ceiling - which is a dilemma...its 17’ tall!  We’ll have a little festive reminder of the girls birthday until this sucker starts to loose some of its float.

Tomorrow is the day - 12!

Today’s numbers:

I didn’t look at the numbers today!  I actually have to remind myself to check the numbers now.  I’ll have to read some news tomorrow too, I’ve been wondering how Georgia and Florida have faired since opening up a little bit last week or if we won’t see the surge until later.

Day 7 - short boring day

Sorry peeps, we didn't really do anything today - we ate some more, we sat some more at the beach, then we ate again, then we sat again...
