First, we drove down the island about 30 minutes to go to Talisker. We had to stop in Portree quickly to drop some money off to a store called Inside Out, an outdoor store because we cancelled a tour we were going to and owed them the deposit. While we were there Jay decided he wanted this nifty little man toy called a Leatherman.
He was humming and hawing about it and I said "it's our anniversary, just get it...then I'll tell you what I want". His eyes popped open and his head snapped back to me and he said "what do you want?!?". It was funny. I didn't want anything - I'm happy with the trip!
On the drive down to Talisker I said to Jay "the only thing that would make this trip complete is if we went down the road and saw sheep on the road...a lot of sheep..like at least a dozen". Well, we saw a couple, I means we have seen THOUSANDS of sheep, but never been surrounded by a flock blocking the road like in the movies. This guy was right out my window.
We go through some beautiful countryside every day!
Jay was not a fan of Talisker scotch, we went for interest sake, and because Sherry, Jay's office manager (his work Dana) likes peaty smokey scotch. We did an hour tour of the distillery and had a chance to taste a sample at the end. Jay has been converted! He is now a big fan.
After Talisker we went up to a little cafe for lunch. We both ordered what was called a Crofters special, which is breads and cheeses. It came with a red onion marmalade spread. Jay said "would I like it?" I said "yeah, I think so..try it". He tried it, made a terrible face, took a drink of his water and said "you don't know me at all..." So funny.
After the lunch we went to Neist Point Lighthouse for a hike. It was suppose to be a 2 hr hike, and we finally had some sunshine. The weather was really weird. They have a saying on Skye 'if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes' and it was like that. It would rain, then be sunny, then rain, then be rainy and windy, then sunny. We hiked the lighthouse and it was sunny and windy. WINDY.
The wind would push you over as you walked! It was gorgeous though. It took us about 40 minutes to walk out there and back. And the whole way the path was paved. But it was up and down and up and down and did I mention windy?!?
Then my phone died. So no more pictures..except then I just used Jays phone! It's funny, we didn't take any pictures of the actual lighthouse. It was ugly.
We went over to Dunvegan Castle next, this was all a big loop back to our hotel, so it worked out well.
After the castle we headed back to the B&B for a rest before dinner at the local pub. The wifi was out again, so I didn't post anything. Now I'm doing today and tomorrow, which is really yesterday and today.
