Jill decided not to go in to yoga today and tried to do it outside, but I could keep hearing her groaning and telling the pigs to go away, she would move her mat and each time the pigs would skootch closer to her. I'm sitting in the air chair that you can see in the corner trying to figure out what my blog notes say so that I can write up yesterday and Jill and I are laughing trying to figure it out. The notes are to help me remember, but if I can't figure out the context they're useless!!
Trev and Ava decided to not go to the beach today with us and recover at home, haha. Jay, Jill, the girls and I packed into the car and off to Playa Mantas, if we want to walk around a point off Mantas we can get to Playa Blanca which is a white sand beach and supposed to be beautiful.
Around 11am Trev messaged and said "I'm back!", except its a beer, not a sour so he's not really back, but must be feeling so much better than he was this morning.
It was pretty here, but very busy - we knew it would be because its Saturday and a lot of locals are at the beach on the weekend. We didn't end up walking around the point to Blanca, and I had told Jay that Playa Mantas meant there were rays in the water and he told the girls! (dumb) so they wouldn't get back in the water and at one point I saw Sophie climbing Jay like a spider monkey. After dinner I did a translation app and Mantas means Blanket - haha.
We were only at the beach about an hour, stopped at the grocery store on the way back home for limes, ice cream (the girls had been promised the milkshake from yesterday but because of the broken blender didn't get it) and dip.
The plan this afternoon is to go to Playa Hermosa and watch Anthony, Jai's boyfriend, surf in a competition - Jai made a reservation for a table for us, beach front, so that we could watch and we have to be there by 3:30pm.
As we sit there and it nears 4pm the bar/restaurant just gets busier and busier and busier. The Back Yard Beach Bar hosts this competition every Friday and Saturday night and its a great way for them to bring people to the bar. There is a constant flow of people coming from the beach to buy drinks and take them back down onto the sand to watch the competition. They have a DJ and an MC, who was so funny commentating on the wipe outs. There were between 18 and 20 surfers in the water.
The girls were hot, cranky and didn't order anything. So I asked the server if they would make milk shakes for the kids and he said sure, but then they came out and didn't taste right (it was chocolate syrup and not chocolate ice cream) so then they were even more surly.
Jill took some photos with her real camera, but its not easy to get them off of the memory card and onto here so I just ended up taking photos of the photos so you can see them, but they're obviously much better if the actual photo was inserted.
Surly until they went down to the beach! Once their toes were in the water it was a series of getting slightly more and more wet until they were full on swimming in their clothes!
These photos are Anthony.
We left around 5:30pm to head back to the house with the soaking wet kids, lol. They're favourite part of this trip I think will be hanging out the car window on the drive back to the house!
We got home and discovered that Jill, Trev and Ava, who stayed at the beach, had the keys to get in the house!! Trev messaged that they had the keys while we were on our way but I didn't get it until we got home and tried the door. When they realized, they left the bar to come home...well, they went to the beach to take some pictures of themselves first and THEN they left to come home.
The girls and I got in the pool and swam while we waited, Jay tried to have a nap in the hammock but then was getting bitten by mosquitos so he was getting a little crusty when he figured they stopped on the way home at the grocery store for snacks!
When they got home around 7pm I had already been in the pool for an hour with the girls so I stayed inside and went to read my book. It was a very laid back day - no sours, in fact Ava had a virgin cocktail at the restaurant - I had a pina colada and a beer and didn't have a drink when we got back (mostly because the booze was locked inside the house, haha).
I read my book until about 9:30pm, which is about the same time that they came in from the pool. No sours were consumed, so we have two Stanley's ready for tomorrow.
These are some photos that were missed from yesterday because I hadn't airdropped Jill and Trev's photos.
I'm not sure what we were doing here in the pool, but Jill had about 15 pictures of the 4 of us and our shenanigans.
