Benedryl...check
After an uneventful experience at the airport we boarded right on time. I took a last minute pee break and met Mom on the plane. As soon as I took my seat, and saw the look on her face, I knew something was wrong...and then I heard it. An American. A loud, Italian American and his loud American wife - sitting right in front of us. I don't think they were part of a group, but they certainly made themselves at home!
So, Benedryl...check. Two tablets please and bring on the comatose state...as quickly as possible, so I can try to tune this guy out and I don't focus on his voice like a dripping tap.
Hallelulah...did you know in Club Class (Air Transat's version of "first class") you get a blanket and pillow? Well, that's not all, a little travel kit includes all the essentials including EAR PLUGS!!!!
So, 4.5 hours of sleep later the Flight Attendant wakes me for breakfast and I'm feeling fresh and fine. Uh, Mom, not so much. Two coffees later and I might be ok to interact with her soon.
"I am not a morning person" yeah, really? I couldn't tell.
We've got about an hour and a half left to our flight. There's a 6 hour time difference - ahead. Oh yeah! Happy Birthday to me! 35. Hooray!
We had a fairly uneventful flight and transfer by water bus to a stop near our hotel. Our hotel is about 2 blocks from the water bus stop and we found it very easily. We got checked into our teeny tiny room (seriously there are 2 twin beds pushed together, enough room for a bistro table and chairs and a bathroom a wee bit bigger then Adam and Andrea's airplane bathroom).
We spent the afternoon doing what I love to do...wander!! Had delicious gelato, got new SIM cards for our iPads and now we're cookin' with gas!
We just had dinner on the waterfront...I wish there was an easy way to get photos from my iPhone to my iPad (I'll probably email them to myself and save them and post them tomorrow)...it's gorgeous.
Tomorrow we have a tour in the morning and then plan to go to the island of Murano in the afternoon and for dinner. Oh, dinner tonight was amazing. Mom had mussels and I had beef carpaccio and we had an Amarone della valpolicella wine that was amazing. And, of course due decaf cappicinos.
It's now 20 to 8 Venice time...that's 2 in the afternoon your time and we're going to bed to try to get on time here.
Love to you all!
Dana
