No way Jose!
I had minimal expectation of Venice because Jay had said "Venice...enh" with a shoulder shrug and I didn't want to be disappointed. And while I feel like I don't need more than the full day and a half here it is beautiful and picturesque and beautiful again.
We went to bed last night at 8:30pm and woke up to the alarm at 7:45am!! So, we're pretty much adjusted, which is awesome! We woke up and my Mom looked over and said "where did you get that extra pillow?!?" "It was in the armoir...here you can have it, two pillows made my neck sore" (memories of Dumb and Dumber). We had our breakfast delivered on a silver tray to our room at 8 o'clock and headed out to our Backstreets Tour of Venice for 9. Mike, originally from Baltimore, gave us a 2.5 hour tour through the Venice that most people don't get to see, off the beaten track through the labyrinth of medieval streets that is Venice...AND we got to take some fantastic pictures with no tourists milling about in them!! He was very knowledgable without being too dry...though he was a lawyer back in the States.
We've just had another great lunch, come back to the hotel so Mom can "rest/recover" (a little different than traveling with you, Erin). We need to catch the bus/boat in about 40 minutes. We're going to the island of Murano this afternoon to the Glassworks and dinner at a restaurant that was recommended by a friend of my parents.
I can't wait until I can get some wifi to upload some photos from my phone.
