Jim's last full day

When I came down this morning at 5:45am Mom was standing in the house looking at me, but she didn't know how to open the doors (they have a foot lock, but also a ceiling lock and a key lock and then they push out where you feel like they should pull in), so I had to point through the window the instructions and after a few minutes I could get in.

Maria, Jim and I did our workout this morning, 48 minutes.  The carion birds were back, they seem to only circle when Jim is working out with us.  He said that its because the sun is making the sweat glint off of his bald spot and they identify that with him being 'almost ready'.

Then they multiplied, so he must have started looking really bad.

After our post workout swim these cool birds showed up at the house and landed really close to us, then when I went in to make my toast one landed on the table and stole an apple core and another sat on the chair right next to Sophie - I gave Paige a little bit of my crust and it ate it right out of her hand, so then I cut a piece for Sophie as well.  They left after that and didn't come back, we figured they would have been back since we gave them food.  Its funny though, there are lots of birds here, black ones that we're constantly shooing away from the pool - but the pretty birds we'll let eat from our hands - I guess it does pay to be pretty.

We also had a grasshopper hanging out today.

Mom was looking through some of her old photos and passed her iPad to Maria and said "Tell me those aren't the homeliest babies you've ever seen..." Maria said "Oh yeah.  Oh, they're girls?"  Mom said "They're our girls"  I said "Its Sophie and Paige"  And Maria said "OH, why aren't they cute?" lol, because they looked like little old men, that's why!

Maria and I took the girls down to the beach for an hour to play in the waves.  They were bigger today, still lots of fun.  Paige was trying to get the sand out of her swimsuit, I told her it was pointless, she would have to strip it off and have a shower or use the hose when we got home.  We stopped for groceries, Jay arrives tomorrow and we asked him to get some rum and tequila from the Duty Free store in the airport, so we had a decision to make...do we wait until tomorrow to get cheap rum or do we splurge and buy a $40 bottle of rum today so we can have pina coladas this afternoon?  We were both kinda looking at each other and Maria said "They were pretty good..." Ok, yeah, just get a bottle.  lol.  Maria said she doesn't really like pina coladas, but mine are SO GOOD.  I said "there are a lot of things you like that you don't like Maria" haha.

And Jim posted this on Facebook, lol. That's actually us from the house.

And this, which was also funny!

After getting home we started to get ready to go out to lunch.  Jim had his choice since its his last day and he wanted to try Numu, the third restaurant in the Tiki's and Beach House family.  Its also the restaurant with the pool so that worked well for the girls.  We got there at 11:58 and it didn't look open, but there was someone inside so Dad went in to see if they were open for lunch and they would be open in about 20 minutes.  So we took off and I drove my parents and Jim up to see where we stayed last year because it was about a 10 minute drive from where we were at the restaurant.  I had forgotten just how STEEP and BAD the road up to the house was!  We were keeping a look out for Antonio as well but didn't see him.  By the time we got up there and back to Numu it was open so we went in, sat down and ordered.  They had a very eclectic menu and said the would make some cucumber rolls for the girls, so they had edamame and cucumber rolls for lunch and then we ordered another 2 sets of rolls to go for snacks for them later.  I had jerk chicken with rice and veggies which was delish, Mom had chipotle shrimp tacos with fries, that were real cut potatoes but weren't cooked enough, so they were tasty but kinda soft.  Dad had a shrimp basket, it came more like tempura shrimp and his fries weren't super cooked either - he sent them back and got a huge plate back!  Jim and Maria both had the red curry bowls which they both said was good, they were just expecting more of a curry flavour.  All in all everyone was happy with it and the girls and I loved it.

We came back to the house, I made a pitcher of pina coladas.

Pina Colada Recipe
In a blender:
2 c of ice
1.5 c of pineapple juice
.25 c of coconut cream
1.5 c of coconut milk
1.5 c of dark rum (or light)
Blend and pour over ice - my pina coladas aren't slushy..which is why I think Maria likes them so much. I would have taken a photo but Maria drank them all.

I poured Maria and I both one and then transferred the rest of the pitcher from the blender into one of our pitchers and made a virgin drink for Sophie.  By the time I got Sophie hers and brought it out to the pool deck Maria said "Could you get me another one?  Mine was really small" lol, it was regular size, which is actually pretty small in the yeti cups, I measured because I was trying to figure out how many calories were in each and because the yeti's filled with ice aren't huge each drink has 7 oz in it.

Three pina coladas later (so that makes 4) it was time to get ready for dinner.  Again it was Jim's choice and so we went back to Angelina's since he didn't remember being there the other day, lol.  Dad decided to drive down the hill and Jim got a ride with him while all the girls walked down.

My girls RAN down to catch the car and half way down when they were completely out of my sight I said to my Mom "They'll run down this hill all the way to the restaurant where I can't see them but they won't walk home from school!"

We got to the restaurant and ordered a bottle of prosecco to share between Jim, Mom and I and the cork popped out easily, surprising the server.  We all laughed and she said "That was fast!" and Jim chirped "that's what she said" and her eyes got wide as she grinned, then we all laughed hard because obviously she knew what the saying was as well!  Jim said to Maria he feels like he's ordered the Guiesepe pizza before (that's because he did but he didn't actually eat any the first time!).  I ordered the burrata salad appetizer and a meatball appetizer for my dinner.  The kids had cheese pizza.  Mom ordered the Snook fish special and Dad had a wagu burger, which he said was amazing (he had never heard of wagu before). And Jim and Maria shared the pizza along with having caesar salads which were also delicious.  I'd like to go back and order the Pancetta and Egg pizza without the egg and Maria said that she would too, so we'll go out for one more dinner at least - I'm sure Jay will want the wagu burger as well so we'll go while he's here.

Done dinner and back up the hill - Mom caught a ride up this time but Maria, the girls and I walked up.

It gets you nice and warm for a late night dip in the pool (its 7pm, that's late).  The pool feels SO warm at night, its so nice.

Day 6 - Tour of a local Island

I set my alarm for 8am today because Jay and I have booked a tour to a local island by speed boat and it leaves around 10am.  I wake up ever...
