Day 2
We all got up between 6:30 and 8:00am this morning and chilled for a bit. At 9:00am the cooks and housekeeper arrived and Margaret made breakfast of sausage, sautéed onion and pepper, scrambled eggs and toast.
Jay, Trev and I decided to go into town to get some supplies (limes, which are apparently not in season and are not imported - they import apples but not limes, wtf) including ice. Town is a little sketchy. Like totally sketchy. We won’t come here often. The drive back up to the house gives a nice view of Soufriere and the Pitons. Soufriere looks best from this distance.
When we got back to the house Julia said that she had told Ellie she would wait for me to go to the beach when Sarah, Jeff and the boys walked to the beach. Ellie came up and said “Dana, can we go to the beach?” “I’m ready to go to the beach now.” Ok, well we’re going to have a drink before we head down. So then we suggested she go for a swim with the girls in the pool to pass some time.
Two drinks later we got a text from Jeff saying they would like a ride back from the beach. I said to Juls “Tell him he has a limited window. I only have an inch and a half left of my drink. I can’t drive if I have another after that”. Juls and I went to get them at 12:35pm.
After a long afternoon in the pool Sarah and Jeff’s car arrived. The Sixt guy was really impressed with the house and was taking selfies of himself with the Pitons in the background. Juls hopped in his selfie too, but I didn’t get a picture.
The kids had been mentioning there are banana trees off the pool deck so they asked Paul, the groundskeeper, to pick some for them and he took down a whole bunch! So Juls and Maddy laid down for some selfies with the bananas.
At one point I had the kids go fill up my drink for $1.
We had fun in the sun for sure.
Margaret prepared salad for lunch, which wasn’t enough food, so Sarah C made nachos for us and brought them down to the pool. So good.
Jackson is a wizard with the Rubix Cube. He can solve it in about a minute. I guess he said to Jeff he wanted to learn how to solve them a while ago and so watched a bunch of YouTube videos on learning the patterns and now he’s really good at it. It’s cool to watch.
For dinner later we had pork with veggies and mashed potatoes which was delicious, the sauces are amazing that the meats are stewed in. Jay commented how he was glad the guys had cleaned up the dinner dishes yesterday - - several times. Their turn tomorrow, I might use a different plate for each food.
After dinner we were sitting around the outside table, Sarah C was wearing a Blue Jays cap and Anthony was saying he recently met a women who called them the “BJ’s” and he was like “I love the BJ’s” and I said “I hope they go deep this year...real deep” lol. Sarah C, Trev and Anthony were playing cribbage. When the game was finished Sarah C said it was about bedtime for her and does anyone know what time it was...it’s 6:37pm - welcome to vacation! I was definitely asleep by 7:30pm, the last thing I remember was everyone looking for Ellie because she was missing. She had gotten tired of playing cards with Jackson and Ty in the bedroom so laid down in the closet in the same room and closed the door and fell asleep.
I’d say 7.30 bedtime was pretty good considering you were on your second drink at noon. How much were the limes? Who really cares, though, as you can’t really live without them.
