We’ve been waiting to come to St Lucia for almost a year. We booked this house, Bananaquit House in Soufriere last March and are here with Trev, Julia. Avery, Myah, The Corey’s and the Acorns and Ty Manalac (so that Jackson wasn’t totally out numbered and because he’s an awesome kid).
We met at the airport just before boarding the airplane, got all settled and took off!
Sophie passed out on the plane with about 45 minutes left in the flight. A combination of not liking what Jay was watching on his iPad and not wanting to go to the bathroom on her own. She felt it coming and sat on the floor in the aisle and I pulled her into my lap. I thought she had breathed through it when she went stiff and passed out. It’s been a long time since that happened. So we went to the washroom and changed into shorts and by the time we came back out it was almost time to land. She always feels terrible afterwards so we had some orange juice and I gave her a gravol once we were through immigration and getting the car. Paige was a complete witch during the entire ordeal and I just wanted to throttle her.
We all rented cars from different locations so decided to meet at Uptowns Liquor and Grocery to get some essentials (beer and booze). I had already arranged for groceries to be at the house when we arrived and Jason, the Manager, said he would have the cook prepare dinner for our arrival as well. It’s only a 15% surcharge to have them buy food for us as well, and with 16 of us here that’s totally worth it! Sarah and Jeff’s car wasn’t available so Sixt got them a taxi and they went straight to the house and Sixt will drop a car to them tomorrow.
Sophie threw up at the liquor store in the parking lot and totally rallied.
We got a text from Jeff while we were on our way “view is terrible and people aren’t welcoming at all”.
The road here is super curvy and hilly (Anthony felt sick). Sarah was driving and following me and we lost her a few times. We ended up going too far along the final road (a narrow dirt road) and missing the turn up to the house (another narrow road) so the Corey’s and Julia made it to the house just ahead of us.
The house is nicer than the photos, the rooms are a little bigger and it’s very clean! These are the website photos because I didn’t take photos before we dropped our crap. Lol. The house is like a maze.
The girls room and Julia’s room are up the stairs off the main room. The little girls (Sophie, Paige, Myah and Ellie) are sharing the room with the curtains.
Julia’s room is on the left half way up the stairs.
Then our bedroom, the Corey’s and the big girls (Maddy and Avery) are down the stairs below the main floor.
Our room
Corey’s
Big girls, they chose this room because it is a full room, unlike the one the little girls are in that doesn’t have walls and a locking door.
Then Trevs room and the Acorns arena level below our rooms on the pool deck. Their rooms are actually quite a bit nicer than they are in the photos.
The living and dining areas are all open air.
The cooks prepared dinner for us ready for our arrival. Rice, veggies and a curry chicken. They cook 3 meals a day, dinner being left for us to help ourselves which was included in the price of the house for the week.
We had Pina coladas and local beer, Pitons. Julia and I dipped in the pool to cool off after the travel day and the kids all ended up in there with us. Jay tossing them all in the air into the pool.
We went to bed late, almost 10pm for me! Sophie ended up sleeping with Jay and I - she used her day to her advantage even though she would have been fine!
I think we’re gonna like it here!
