Playa Potrero, Day 3

6am seems to be the time we wake up, we come down and have breakfast and have coffee on the deck, enjoying the view.

We left the house this morning and we weren't sure what time it was, we went down to the beach and set up camp to play in the waves.  We bought boogie boards yesterday for the girls (and for Alice when she gets here Friday), so we tested them out this morning. We overlook Potrero Beach.

Playa Potrero is a black sand beach, which wasn't what I was expecting.  Its volcanic sand, very fine and very HOT.  After playing in the waves for a long time the girls and Jay and Trevor built a sand castle.

I asked Maria "What time is it anyway?"  9:30!  Oh my God.  First, its getting hot hot hot and second I'm starting to get hungry, 6:30 breakfast was a long time ago.

We left the beach at 10:30, came back to the house and had some guacamole and salsa and chips..I suggested to Trevor that maybe a small sour might be ok with lots of ice.  Trev's idea of a small sour is a regular size sour...needless to say we were in for the rest of the day.  Jay was napping and so missed the snack and when he woke up decided to go to the grocery store to get some rum so that he can have rum sours - so we had him pick up the essentials, 4 more bottles of tequila, some more salsa, some more nacho chips, avocados and yogurt for the girls.

Jay brought the slack line with him and we set it up in the yard, so the little girls and the big boys had fun this afternoon trying to balance across it.

Its REALLY hot on the deck from about 2-4pm, there is no shade when the sun reaches that point.  So your choices are inside or in the pool.  Maria and the girls opted for in the house relaxing while Trevor, Jay and I opted for the pool.

We got into the new pitcher of sours and I realized the ratio was off (either that or my tastebuds are deadened) and Maria agreed..it needed more tequila!  We had upped the ratios of the limes, simple syrup and orange juice, but we were only putting in one bottle of tequila...rookie mistake.  But the pitcher will only hold so much...next time, more tequila and less of the fillers!

Finally, the heat passed as the sun rolled over the trees and we can all be back in the pool.  I asked Maria to take a picture of my modern family...here we all are :)

At one point today Maria was making the girls a snack today and Jay said "We're a true modern family now, two Moms and two Dads".

Maria made stuffed peppers today for dinner, which were delicious, with a side salad.  And after dinner, which was at 5pm, we decided it would be an early night!  I think we made it until just after 7pm, lol.

I set my alarm for 8am today because Jay and I have booked a tour to a local island by speed boat and it leaves around 10am.  I wake up ever...
