So the sites are pretty close together and last night the people on the site outside our bedroom window talked and laughed until about 10:30, not too late, but their tarp was flapping in the wind and was annoying! At least when they went to bed they took the tarp down, likely because it annoyed them too - and they packed up and were gone this morning by about 8am.
Jay decided to go for a run, but then it started to rain so he jumped back into bed until it stopped again. Lol. He did just over 10km.
The girls had breakfast of champions, Lucky Charms, and then wrestled in the smaller than a twin bed bunk bed. Finally I said "I'll make you guys a deal, you have 5 minutes to get dressed and get out of here and explore, if you're not gone when the timer goes off then you do the dishes!" They were out well before the timer buzzed. I sent them out with my phone for some photos of around the Campground.
Once they left I put the kettle on and made an instant decaf coffee, which isn't so bad once you add the Bailey's (it's a condiment) and read my book while I enjoyed my peanut butter foldover (no toaster) and coffee. Jay came back and folded himself into the shower, I'll tackle that later.
Tomorrow we have a boat tour/ shuttle arranged. We get on the glass bottom boat at 1:40pm and it does a 45 min tour to a few wrecks and then are dropped off at Flower Pot Island for 2 hours before we come back on an open boat (it's not supposed to rain tomorrow!).
Jay took the girls to the front office. They have Big Wheel type bikes you can rent for the day, so I think they'll either get the 4 person or 3 singles (which I think is a better idea), we'll see. I told him he has to say Myah is his kid because I was in there yesterday at check in and someone was renting and a parent has to sign a waiver. Not like they won't believe those 3 are sisters!
They got singles, but then Paige was complaining that hers was slower so they went back to the front for her to get a different one. It's $10/hr, now that's a racket. There were no other big wheelers so the girls traded off.
When the girls returned the "go karts" I made grilled cheese sandwiches, then when I suggested they do the dishes. Sophie and Myah disappeared and Paige started the dishes. I told her she could have a treat after lunch for helping and magically I had two more dish washers instantly appear!
As the girls ducked out of the motorhome, after lunch treat forgotten, for a bike ride Myah said "This is my biking outfit, and hiking. Biking and hiking". Too funny. They had come inside to take off their "bras" to protect them because they want to get dirty biking through puddles. This was the summer cottage scavenger hunt romper prize from the Middleton Cottage this summer. The outfit from last night (pink shorts and white shirt) was from Easter. So Sophie, Paige, Myah, Avery, Annabelle and Olivia all have the same outfits from the scavenger hunt.
Sophie came in about 15 mins later again and said "I'm just going to get changed". Uh, are you doing more biking? "Yeah" then just get as dirty as you can and I'll wash the outfits. Wide eyes met that comment, then grins and off they went! "Let's Go Dirt Biking!" I can hear Myah say "Sophie, go through as many puddles as you can.." as they ride off. This is what summer is about.
They came back and we assessed the dirtiness. Myah overall is dirtiest, Sophie's bike is dirtiest and Paige's face is dirtiest.
"I think we can get dirtier!" and off they went again.
And then I washed them in the sink. The rompers, not the kids.
We went for a hike this afternoon, first we tried Half Log Dump (yes, that's the name) but we got to the entrance and there was a line up to get in. We waited a few minutes and a park staff came up to our window and let us know the parking was full and if we wanted to wait AN HOUR we would likely get in. Seriously? No. She said there were about 15 cars ahead of us. We decided to not wait but there was no where to turn around so we had to pass all the cars, people were basically picnicking in their cars and playing ball on the road waiting to get in, and then turn around to get out. We counted 23 cars ahead of where we were! So we gave the park staff the accurate count as she was talking to another car and we passed by her on the way out.
Then we tried Cyprus Lake, but that's where the Grotto is so that was full as well. So we decided to go down to where the Visitors Center was because it was a trail head as well and we did a 5km loop called Burnt Point Loop which started out with a .8km path before turning to a 3.7km hiking trail loop.
Sophie was hangry by the time we were finished so we went the 2 mins into town and went to dinner on a patio. It wasn't remarkable, but it was fast. Jay and I had fish tacos and the girls all had chicken soft tacos.
We got back to the motor home and the girls headed out for a bike ride. I asked them what their favourite part of today was. Sophie said it was the go karts, Myah was the "dirt biking" and Paige was the ice cream shop after dinner! Mine was the hike and Jay's was "leaving the trailer park!" Haha! Second to that was the girls "dirt biking". Good news is the site beside us is still empty!
I finally had my shower and the water, at the end, didn't drain so I told Jay we'd have to empty the holding tanks (or at least I assumed this is the issue).
The motorhome was parked too far forward for the waste hose to reach the sewer so Jay had to back it up (twice) to get it to reach. And while he had the hose out we figured we should empty the grey and the black waste. As it was emptying I turned to Jay and said "Shitter was full". Lol.
Once the black waste was empty you flush the hose with the grey waste water - there is a crack in the hose. So a small stream of waste squirts out the side. And the hose doesn't connect to the septic so Jay had to hold it in place while I pulled the valves open. We did not expect to have to do this daily. Lol. Jay said "Remember that guy with hot garbage breath? This was worse". (There was an old guy Jay, Doug, Kate and I got stuck talking to at Grandma Vi's funeral that breathed hot garbage as he spoke).
The girls rode bikes and played until dark. Jay and I set up the camp chairs outside and chatted. I said "You really want to camp like this with another couple". Jay interrupted "we are never doing this again, don't even ask me". Lol. "But if you did have another couple at least you would have other people to hang out with when the kids are gone all day - we should have a campfire, at least we can look at the fire instead of each other".
I think next year we'll do a weekend back country camping with the girls up at Rock Lake or Whitefish lake where we used to go. Canoe in, camp on an island in the middle of the lake and chill.
