Day 4
When we got up this morning the girls were up chatting. They demoed the rest of the cereal (2 boxes in 3 mornings) and went out for a run. Lol. I made myself a peanut butter and banana sandwich and a coffee and finished that off before it was time to empty the holding tanks again. (The adaptor that would normally latch the hose to the sewer is missing. Also the hose isn't long enough to just leave it in the hole).
At about 11am we headed out for Singing Sand Beach, which is about 8 mins from the Campground. When we got there we were actually quite disappointed. Myah said "whah whah whah", but that just goes to show you shouldn't judge a book by its cover because it turned out to be awesome! The girls wanted to go back to the motorhome and get their skim boards, because like Sauble the beach is shallow for likely a km off shore. (I picked up 3 skim boards in PEI in June for each of them for our trip to Costa Rica in Dec and brought them on this trip for Sauble, which we leave for tomorrow).
Thanks Erin for the recommendation!
I looked up places to eat on TripAdvisor and we went to lunch at the golf course across the street from the Campground. The restaurant is called Ancient Cedars Cafe as we pulled in I said "Hey look, we are eating at the best burger place" (we had seen the 'Best Burger in Tobermory sign a few days ago and we're making fun that it probably wasn't the best burger for real, but the name of the patty company). Jay and I shared a burger (it was pretty darn good) and a Mediterranean platter. Myah and Paige had mac n cheese and caesar salad and Sophie had grilled cheese and caesar salad. The food was delicious, there were a few other tables full and they weren't golfers either.
After lunch we went quickly into town and got milk, cereal, water and bread and then back to the motorhome to get changed for the afternoon back to Singing Sands with the skim boards.
We set up camp there and the girls were in the water a little deep for the boards so I went out and called them shallower (still too deep, but there isn't really a shore here it's more of a bog that turns into a nice Sandy area in the water!). Then I took some photos. I didn't get a good one of Sophie because the photo burst didn't work (and I told her I would explain that so the blog people didn't think she can't skim board, she was very concerned about that).
When the girls were done and coming back to the chairs another family asked if they could try a skim board. They had two kids but had just asked for one, so I walked over and gave them another one so they could both try - the kids had been asking for a skim board I guess and when the Dad, who was a total surf bum, saw them he was like "ah man, he's been asking for a skim board and here I see you've got some awesome ones that look brand new, that's so great, so fun".
The girls spent some time digging in the clay muck and having fun before we packed up at 5pm to come back and make dinner. Soft tacos! So good.
Myah said it was the best taco she had ever had, then qualified it by saying "soft taco". She also asked me where we bought the chipotle hot sauce she had added. I told her she could have it when we get home. Lol.
The girls are off taking some garbage to the garbage bin, Jay tidied up after dinner while I caught up on my blog notes for the day (the kids ask me every hour or so if I've written the blog for the day yet, like Dwayne they like to hear what they've been doing today). Several times they come to me and say "momma, (or Dana) this needs to go in the blog, so we were out in the living room and Myah has the flyswatter, right? So she has the flyswatter and she sways a fly and it falls, like "shweeeeeeeww" (like a rocket launch failure) and crashes on the ground. It was so funny". No. My Blogs are my first hand account, if you want to write a blog you go ahead. Lol.
Jay was just putting the bike rack on the truck and then started putting the girls bikes on, I said he might not want to put the bikes on yet in case they want to use them tonight (it's supposed to storm in the night and through the morning and we are leaving tomorrow for 4 more nights in Sauble). He said they weren't planning on biking tonight but left them off. The girls walked into the site from taking the garbage out and went for a bike ride. Lol.
