Glamping

We rented an RV!  Or rather a Motorhome, I learned there is a difference - An RV is a Recreational Vehicle that you tow, while a Motorhome you drive.

This was the girls "experience" gift for Christmas last year. (The year before we did two weekends, one in Toronto and we saw Toruk (Cirque du Soleil) and did a weekend in Niagara Falls at the Sheraton water park hotel).

We rented a 37' "rock star bus" as the girls call it, referring to our trip recently as "glamping", which it certainly is.

When I first showed Paige some options for campers she said "Um no Mummy, that's not 5 star at all!"  We have created monsters!

Trev was supposed to come with us but a broken finger led to broken promises. He stayed home - it is a 4 hr drive from Uxbridge to our first camp ground in Tobermory.

We drove to Bolton to pick up the motorhome, which we rented from Motorhome Travel Canada and got signed in and shown around the rig pretty quickly.

Myah jumped in the seat, pulled the seatbelt across her lap, clicked it together and said "Activate!" Lol.

There is a TV on the outside. Paige said "This is Amazing! Is there anything it doesn't have?"  We didn't get him to show us how to work the TV antenna, we don't figure we will need it.

He showed us all the features and then where the breakers are in case we trip the circuit with a hair dryer - no hair dryer - no fuss no muss, I told him we packed all the stuff for a week in a Ford Explorer with 5 passengers. I did, for $195, rent all the sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, plates, cups, cutlery, pots and pans, etc for the week. And for $35 rented 6 camp chairs too so that we just had to pack essentials and not anything that took up too much space.

There are bunk beds and then a pull out couch and also the table converts to a bed so the rig sleeps 7-8. The girls are figuring out sleeping arrangements, which I think will rotate.

Jay was a little apprehensive about driving. Sophie was Goose and Jay was Maverick, she would tell him if he was drifting and too tight to the line. I doubt she knows the movie.

We pulled into Tobermory Village Campground, checked in and got to our site, which is slightly wider than the motorhome (about twice as wide) and hooked up to the power and water no problem and we can empty the black and grey waste right at the site.

As we pulled into our site Jay said to me out the window as I was helping him park "Can you tell what I'm thinking right now?" Lol. I'm pretty sure this is our last camping trip. "That we should have rented the sites beside us too?"  Yes.

We got parked and all hooked up - it feels like we are on a boat, swaying back and forth slightly.

We went into Tobermory to do our grocery shopping,  I only brought a few pre-marinated meats from the freezer, veggies that wouldn't keep until we got home and condiments so we need to do a shop for the week. Jay and I wanted to go to dinner while we were in town but the girls want to get back - Jay said to let's just go eat but "I don't want to be in a restaurant with 3 girls who don't want to be in a restaurant" so we headed back. It's only about 2 mins down the road from the camp ground.

The girls were laughing when I pointed out the crab holding onto the sea shells. They asked me 18 times if I would point it out in the blog!

Girls are exploring, I'll send them out with my phone to take some

Photos. I made them KD, Jay prepped us cheese and crackers and I had brought a big bowl of pasta salad as well.  We rounded out the meal with a bulk barn buffet of candy courtesy of Julia and Myah, because hey, it's vacation.

Jay and I are reading, the girls are playing in the living room.

Myah ended up on the couch, Sophie on the bottom bunk and Paige on the top bunk.

So far a good start.
