This morning we went down to the Corey's condo, The Palms, to spend some time with them on the beach. We were supposed to see a house over there on the South Ridge of Flamingo this morning but the property manager, Randy, or his assistant Laura, never got back to me - they were supposed to get in touch with me in the morning to confirm a time to see it because they had guests checking in that afternoon.
We drove down to The Palms because we had the boogie boards and some snacks and all the gear, so we parked and walked in. When we saw Maddy and Juliette sitting at the beach on loungers we set our gear all around them and chatted for a few minutes before heading into the water. Maria said a security guard came up to her and asked if we were guests. She explained that we're visiting the Corey's, and he knew they were in unit 22, and that we were staying at Villa Bougainvillea and Maddy confirmed we were friends of theirs. As soon as Sarah and Anthony came back from their walk down the beach the Security talked to Sarah and just told her to let them know at the front that they would be expecting guests and it would be fine. We thought it was great that they are so attentive that they know when non-guests are on the property.
After some playing in the waves for the little girls and the big boys we headed back to the house for a quick dip and a change and to meet the Corey's for lunch at Surf Box, Mom read the reviews and said that the cuban sandwich was supposed to be good. That's what Jim, Trev and I ordered - it has pickles on it (they taste like McDonalds pickles) and I hate pickles but I try to order as it comes just to try it and it was delicious. I only ate half my sandwich and will have the other half for lunch tomorrow. When the sandwiches were delivered Jim got his first, and he was sitting beside me - it looked amazing, nice and crispy, and he offered to pass it to me but I said "No, its ok", she brought me my sandwich and it wasn't as well grilled - but I figured at that point its too late to ask Jim to switch sandwiches now! It was still delicious.
It’s HOT today.
After lunch we came back to the house and assumed the positions.
Well, first I prepped for dinner, I'm making Paella this afternoon so I had to cook 2 pounds of bacon and a bunch of chicken breasts, chop peppers and onion - and the kitchen was HOT. You have to turn off the overhead fans so that the gas elements will work property, and then turn on the AC so you don't absolutely roast. We usually have the doors open in the house front and back and a breeze comes through so that with the ceiling fans you don't need anything else, except if you're cooking. And we turn the AC on in the bedrooms at night to sleep.

We love an afternoon in the pool. The girls usually take about an hour off from the sun in the afternoon for some iPad time - they need the down time but also need to get out of the sun (mostly the heat actually) at that point as well. They emerg as Maddy and Juliette arrive so play in the pool for an hour before we get ready for dinner. We had some pico de gallo I made yesterday in the pool as a snack mid afternoon as well.
The paella is never as good as at home, it didn't have as much flavour (I should have added the extra packet of bouillon), but it was still good. Sarah and Anthony brought bread and salad and we had great company. I'm also not used to making Paella for 14 people, so made it in the big pot but I don't think I had enough 'filler' it was too ricey. lol. Everyone had had enough to drink they didn't mind.
At 7pm the girls are starting to look tired, all 5 of them retreat to the girls bedroom so I ask Maddy if she'll read the girls their 4 chapters from the book tonight and when she comes out the 3 little girls are ready for a head scratch. So she went out and asked her Dad when he'll be ready to leave and he said 30 minutes (he was having a cigar with Dad on the patio). She looked beat so I yelled at him "Anthony, its 7pm, its bedtime, its time to go!" Haha. He got another 15 minutes and his 3 girls were ready to go so I called again "Hey Corey, its time to go!" One thing I love about the Corey's is they can't be offended, so off they went and we all went to bed. I think we were in bed at 7:30pm.
