Florence, Day 1

With little hoopla we made it to Florence. We had to change buses yesterday on the way to Murano at the train station, so on the way back from Murano we opted to stop and check out the station and where our train platform would be (to my disappointment it wasn't 9 3/4). We arrived early, got situated and arrived in 2 hours to Firenze.
Getting to the B&B was another matter! Forget the bus, and walking was a nightmare until the iPads maps feature earned every Euro of it's "usefulness" in guiding us right to the door.
Unfortunately there is no app to drag two 30lb suitcases up 3 flights of stairs...pack light is advice that could have been more heavily stressed.

The museums are closed today (Monday), so we took the suggestion of Lynn, our concierge, and walked to the Pizza Man restaurant (I know, seriously?!?), we had a pizza that was unlike anything you've tasted before! It was fantastico!! It was a MARGHERITA pizza (buffalo mozzarella, olive oil, tomatoes and fresh basil) We then walked to Piazza San Croce and continued on to the Ponte Vecchia. On the way, we passed the Uffizi Gallery, which we'll visit tomorrow.

The Ponte Vecchia is where the goldsmiths and jewelers are located.

We went from the Ponte to Piazza Michelangelo which is located at the top of a hill on the other side of the Arno river. We took the bus and took the scenic route back to the B&B (got lost, wrong bus).

We have dinner in about 45 minutes.

Here are some photos of today.

Matthew, this Duff's for you...
