Maria came out this morning around 8:30am and said "Is it too early for a drink?" Trevor said "It's never too early...all you need is a friend". Too funny. They did not start drinking at 8:30am! Friends don't let friends drink sours before noon!
I was surfing on Facebook and came across this:
I showed it to Paige and told her what it said - I said "You don't have a brother, so that wouldn't work for you". She said "but I have a sister!" - yes, but she looks like you so that wouldn't help you either!
We decided this morning that we would try Playa Conchal, which is just past the Flamingo bay. We turned down the road to Conchal, which is Playa Brasilito, and the road didn't look like it went anywhere, so we decided that we would just try Brasilito because a Tico who gave us a flyer for the restaurant we parked beside told us that Brasilito was better for the kids, that Conchal can go deep quickly and there is a current. We also did find out from him that the road does go to nowhere..you take it down to the beach and drive on the beach to Conchal.
We walked down onto Brasilito Beach and took a quick look around - its a black sand beach again, but it was covered in garbage and little fire pits up near all the trees...so we turned right back around and went to Flamingo!
We pushed the limit of timing for the girls today, both girls got hungry and had minor meltdowns for different reasons - we left the beach around 12:30pm and were split on whether we went to a restaurant to have lunch or we went to the grocery store to buy a few things and then went home for lunch. I wanted to go to the grocery store and eat at home, Jay was concerned that that would be too long for the girls before they got some food, Maria didn't want to make any decisions yesterday at all and Trev said "All I know is, drinks are free at home". Finally, I made the call that we would get the girls a snack at the grocery store and head home for lunch. So we bought them each an apple to eat in the car and they had a chocolate popsicle at check out - everyone is happy. Trev and Jay also purchased boogie boards to replace the two they have broken in the surf.
We came home and Maria made a salad and we warmed up the paella for lunch. Trev poured "small" sours, and before we were finished prepping lunch he said "I'm ashamed to say that I'm done my first sour and I'm going to refill" I put mine down next to his and said "I'm empty too, don't you mean proud?" We decided that we would just make our pitcher of sours now, and then make another pitcher for tomorrow just so we didn't have to do it later. The tequila that Jay and Trev bought has an inhibitor on it!
Whoever thought that was a good idea was not drinking tequila by the bottle! What a pain. So when Paige asked if she could help I said "Sure, stand here and pour this tequila into the pitcher" All of it? Yes. All of it? Yes. Once she was finished she said "Momma, that is a LOT of tequila!" No, not really but I can see how it might seem that way - lol. Maria had her first sour just after lunch and said "Ah, tastes like vacation..." Too right.
We ate lunch outside and quickly got hot, even though today is a little overcast which is really nice, it was time to either get in the pool or get in the house. Jay still has his cold, so he opted for a nap. Trevor, Maria, the girls and I opted for the pool. Paige came over to us chatting at one point and said "Sophie sent me over to say this" (this should be good) "Excuse, me - Old People.." That's as much as she got out before Maria chased her around the pool...she came back later to finish off the sentence - "come over here for the Cane Races!" It didn't help that Trev had a hard time getting onto the pink floaty in the pool that Maria brought with her.

As we were chatting in the pool I came to an important discovery - we get up in the morning and have breakfast and almost immediately the girls are asking us about going to the beach "can we go to the beach, when are we going to the beach, how long until we go to the beach?" Oh. My. God. So we go to the beach, we stay a couple of hours, go and have lunch and then come back to the house - not once in the afternoon do the girls ask to go anywhere, they are content to splash and play in the pool until dinner - they have no expectations in the afternoon that we go anywhere. Going forward we get up, have breakfast and immediately get ready to go to the beach so that we can spend a few hours there (same plan as usual without the 30 - 90 minute delay in going to the beach while we dick around at the house and they constantly ask when we are leaving for the beach) and come home...should go tickity boo from now on.
We brought some of the girls animal trivia questions with us as something to do - Trev quickly realized that they have all of the answers memorized so he was changing the questions to trick them - they were very confused!
For dinner we had nachos and jalepeno poppers - everything just tastes better on vacation I think, though the poppers taste good all the time.
Once again dinner and then bed..7:20 and my head hit the pillow...ah vacation - hope Maggie isn't expecting party animals - its more of a slow burn with this crowd. Tomorrow is going to be a late night to pick up Maggie at the airport at 8:10pm..we briefly discussed having a car meet her at the airport instead - while I said that wasn't very nice, Jay said its efficient! It will take a little longer to get her because I don't think I want to take the monkey trail at night! Maria said she will come with me, but to be clear she was not abstaining from sours in the afternoon! The girls want to come too..I said "it's late.." Sophie said "Come on, it's vacation!" Looks like they'll be making the drive too!
I was choking crying. Good one, Dana! 😭😭😭😭😭
ReplyDeleteBummer, the emojis didn't print. They were the crying laughing faces.
