Day 6
I made my breakfast this morning with two coffees because the cups are so small! And my peanut butter and banana sandwich.
The girls wanted to rent a Go Kart this morning, it's $5 for 30 mins here, so they waited while Jay went for a run and I made some calls. As soon as Jay got back they had him go down to the office and get the cart and came back with it, very excited.
We did a tour around with Jay and I pedalling and then let the girls ride around until their time was up.
We decided to head to the dunes on the other side of Sauble that we had seen while driving in yesterday so packed the skim boards in the car and took off.
The skim boards were a bust, not slippery enough, but the girls had fun playing in the sand and then I suggested they did a running long jump competition, which lasted at least 45 minutes.
Paige was the clear leader the entire competition, even when Myah finally out jumped her her next jump she tied. We told the girls last jump and Paige and Myah failed to break their tie and Sophie had her final jump. She shouted "how fast should I run" (keep in mind she is running downhill in sand). I said "This is make or break baby. Either the wheels come off and you face plant or you beat them". She crushed it! Lol. Paige and Myah got one final jump to defend their title but neither could beat Sophie's jump.
Jay measured the final jump at 12 lengths of his size 13 feet!
We headed into Sauble to go to lunch and ended up at a little diner. I ordered chicken schnitzel (which came out as chicken parmesan) which was ok. It was close and fast service and that's what we were looking for since we didn't leave the dunes until 2:30pm and hadn't had lunch yet. We seem to be eating lunch really late then end up just snacking for dinner.
Jay also got a call from Howard that his car is sold and his new pick up truck is ready. So it looks like we are going home a day early so he can sign the ownership and get the car to Howard. What he will do to get out of camping!
At some point Sophie tried to get Paige in trouble for daring her to lick a honey package but Myah piped up and said "no she didn't". Jay said that if they told on each other for one more trivial thing trying to get the other in trouble..and Sophie interrupted and asked what trivial means. "Trivial means stupid. Unless your sister hits you in the face with a stick..." he would have continued that but both Paige and I busted a gut with mouths full of drinks. I had it under control until Myah made a swinging motion like she had an invisible bat to Paige's face and made a "wuhpush" sound and I lost it and had to spit my drink back into the cup so I didn't snarf it out my nose.
After lunch we went down to see the beach which was super turbulent. I've never seen, or don't remember, Sauble Beach so wavy. There was a man looking like he was having difficulty getting out of the water so Jay got out of the car (we had parked facing the water on the beach but it was too cold and windy to stay out). Jay offered to help him and got his shorts all wet just in a wet your pants pattern through his crotch somehow.
It was too cold to stay down there so the girls wanted to go back to the dunes! So we went back and they did more long jump and just played in the dirt for another few hours.
When we got back to the motorhome we had forgotten to get milk for the cereal slaughter that happens every morning. So I asked the girls to do the dishes and then ride to the front office and see if they have milk.
About 10 mins later Myah came out "Dana, are we going to get milk or are you going to get milk? You're going to get milk. "Do we have to pay for it?" Have you paid for any groceries? "No". Right, that's why you're doing dishes. That seemed satisfactory to her.
The girls met a friend at the park. When they went to the office to get milk we said they could each get a treat. Sophie got Aero, Myah got mint Aero and Paige got Icebreakers. Paige was using her Icebreakers at the park and doling them out to Sophie and Myah did challenges and one of Sophie's challenges was to ask a girl, Katelyn, to play. I said "you gave Sophie and Icebreaker to meet someone new? You know what Icebreaker is right? It's something you say to meet someone new?" It was lost on them. But, they were gone the rest of the night until almost dark when Jay left to find them so he "didn't get bed sores" lol. I've read 4 books I think since we started this adventure.
When they came back in the motorhome I said "Myah, I have a question" Yeah. "Did you eat your cheesies?" She immediately flopped into the couch with a guilty grin "Did you say the other half of your Aero bar?" Yeaaah. "Did you eat your peanut butter and jam sandwich?" Noooo. So she sat and finished her sandwich while the girls did the dishes from dinner and then she was stuck on putting away duty again. Lol.
The girls want to meet Katelyn back at the park at 10am and kept asking if I wasn't awake could they just go. Why wouldn't I be awake at 10am? I've been the first one up around 7:30am every morning. But if you're not then can we. OMG. Yes, just tell us you're going and go.
I was brushing Paige's hair before bed because it's a rats nest and when I was done I told her if she didn't want the brushing in the morning to be bad she should put it in a braid, so she did. Then Myah asked if I would brush her hair, which is SO soft, and when I was done I said "Do you want a braid Myah?" There was no hesitation at all as she said "Sure!" And her hand immediately lifted with an elastic at the ready.
It's supposed to be the same, weather wise, tomorrrow. 18 degrees with some cloud. We'll try the beach again and the falls but will likely end up at the dunes again for a long jump championship round!
Can you still walk across the "falls"? How convenient was the car deal for Jay!
