Sangria To Go!! - Day 9

Maria and I got up and went to the gym today. We chatted about why we haven’t been working out as much here and figure at the house we worked out outside, so we had to do it early before it got too hot. Here we’re staying up later (8:30, lol) and getting up later (7:00) and then sitting around getting unmotivated. So we decided for the rest of this trip (really just tomorrow) and for next year we’ll commit to no later than 8am going to the gym.

Sophie put on her zinc we bought yesterday and wouldn’t smile for me until I gave her the finger.

More fun waves today!  And Maria is feeling better so lots of pictures :)  📷

We decided to have leftovers for lunch today but to order and pick up the tuna tartar from Beach House when we went out grocery shopping. They open at 11 so we’ll call from the beach.

Maria called Beach House, ordered the tuna and sandwiches for Avery and Maddy and asked if we can get 2 pitchers of sangria to go as well if we bring our own pitchers and they said yes!!  So we went in to get changed and grab Stanleys and head off.

We buckled them in, precious cargo.

These were the best $19.97 spent at Costco this year!  1.9 litres holds a perfect pitcher of sours or sangria. To go Sangria is going to change our life. Also, when we were there there was a delivery driver leaving Beach House - they deliver too!!  Amazeballs.

The afternoon was spent with more beach fun!

Mid-late afternoon the girls always need a break from the sun, so they made more cupcakes.

Around 4 we made our way from beach to pool, as per usual we were the only ones there. Around 4:30 we made our way from pool to patio for some 5 Crowns. Jay is holding that seat for Jim, lol, it’s tipped ip against the table.

Playing this game how it works is the first round you’re all dealt 3 cards, so 3’s and jokers are wild. Next hand dealt 4 cards and 4’s and jokers are wild and continue up to 13 cards where kings are wild. You go out when all the cards in your hand either make up a run in the same suit or 3 of a kind or more.

At 4’s when someone went out Jim said “I got 4”. We looked at him and said “4’s are wild!”  “Oh, I got zero”

I don’t know how the discussion started but we were talking about eating boogers and how much you would have to be paid to eat someone else’s booger. I said at least $1,000 but then gagged a little so I’m not even sure! Lol. Jim asked if I would be more or less likely to eat Jays because we’ve swapped bodily fluids before. I was like “I don’t know, he has a big nose, I think I would choose a small nose like Sarah’s”. Haha

The conversation was interrupted by “Honey, that’s wild!”  Jim had just thrown a 6 away. So Jay scooped it up and went out again.

I don’t know why Jim was throwing a shocker but he keeps doing it wrong with his middle finger tucked in. Sarah said “Whoa Jim, you’re a little aggressive on the back end there!” Lol. Jim said “it’s the volcan shocker” and Sarah said “it’s like the jaws of life man”.

Anthony says it’s like a Minivan, one in the front and 4 in the back. Lol.

As Sophie was walking back from the Corey’s a bird was following her, looked like a falcon”ish” bird. It swooped into the patio beside us as we heard a “thwack”.

Eventually it flew off and right into the Corey’s patio and “thwack”. Then flew off again.

8’s are wild Jim.

We’re listening to Classic Rock Essentials and Anthony turns to Maddy and said what’s this song?  I don’t know. Who’s the artist? I don’t know. Lol, your training is not complete young padawan. It’s Stairway to Heaven.

We ordered the takeout for delivery from La Forketta and tell them to just knock on the door and come in because we’ll be on the patio.

Pretty sunset again, then we moved inside because the wind was picking up.

Inside we started another game. I sat to the left of Jim. Jay says he’s going to whisper in Jim’s ear before every turn to remind him what’s wild.

Halfway through the game Jim was looking at the scores and couldn’t figure out who’s score was whose because of the big gap (one line) between the names and the scores. So I added arrows for him. Lol.

At 7’s I got my first bonus card. 7’s are wild Jim. Blame Stanley.  Jim had 2 sours and a beer before we got back at 1pm with the Sangria - after two of those he went for a nap (and took a traveller).

I moved my had to grab cards on my right and said “whoop” as I hit Jim’s cup and then moved my hand to the left to grab cards immediately after and said “whoop” as I hit my water cup on my left then just held my hands in the air and said “never mind, I’m not helping”.

We always do highest card to see who deals first - now we’ll do lowest gets to sit beside Jim.

Anytime someone asks “who’s turn is it?” I’ll say “it Jim’s turn” :)

The food arrives!  Not only did I get everyone’s order right but so did the restaurant!  Maria and I shared a pizza, milenesa veal and spaghetti and a mixed salad. We didn’t need the pizza because it’s such big portions.

Jay went into a giggle fit. Somehow he and Anthony thought the guy on the pizza box looks like Jim and then couldn’t stop laughing at it.

It’s 8:18pm, Anthony said that’s some kind of record!  I said for late or early and he said “oh I’ve seen earlier!”  Such a fun trip, only one more full day to go.

It’s Jim’s deal and I say to him, looking at the cards - how many people are you dealing for?  1,2,3,4,5,6...these ones are spares. Lol.

And finally, Anthony says to Maria “Throw me something good”. I say “she’s going to throw something high” (we knew Jay was going out next round, he’s good about bragging to give us a heads up). Jim said “I hope you’re looking for a king” (joking because kings are worth 13 points against you  if stuck in your hand) and Anthony said “I’m absolutely looking for a king”. I lean over and whisper “Kings are wild Jim”.
