Today I have a grocery pick up at Zehrs sometime this morning, my official time is between 11am and 12pm. I’ll wait until I get the email saying that its ready - go out and wipe the back hatch of the car with a disinfectant wipe, including the release button and the hatch closure button. Same thing when I go and get the dog food later, but I’ll take the truck for that and not Jay’s car.
At 10:23am my grocery order is ready! There were several things missing from today’s order, including almond milk which we use almost a L a day in our morning shakes so that’s kind of a big deal. I’ll have to see if I can get that on Amazon and in the meantime I asked my Mom to add it to her order which is ready for pick up on the weekend. The next date I can get an order is FridayApril 3rd! Today is Wednesday March 25th...thankfully I have 5 more days of self-isolation and then if I want to I can go INTO the grocery store, but I still set up a pick up for the 3rd for fruit and veggies and bread. They also made a change that going forward you can’t add to your order up to midnight before, which makes sense because I ended up having about 50 items on my grocery list, so I had to be organized and decisive about my list for next Sunday as I can’t add to it over the next few days. Mom can still add to hers though because it was before this came into effect so I’ll be adding to her order over the next few days.
I got home and hopped on a webinar at 12:00pm about how to stay focussed and relevant during this crisis and to be ready to hit the ground running when its over. It was 45 minutes well spent and included a tidbit that I already know..that I should be working out while I have all this free time on my hands! We have essentially a full gym in the basement, I have no excuse except I like to be social when I work out, I really just don’t want to go down there by myself (or when Jay and the guys are down there either). I’ll have to figure something out though, I do feel slothy.
After the webinar I called Heronview Raw and got my order going, which I had emailed in last week, so that I can drop the girls to the Faust’s and then continue on to the dog food place. I got there and they’ve actually moved to only curbside pick up so you call when you get there, they come and drop your order on the sidewalk outside the door, call your name, wait for you to acknowledge, go inside and you load it into the car. E transfer only. It was WAY faster than they normally are so that was great. Then I came straight back home. Fun times.
Jay did some more raking today so I did some more carting the leaves to the back of the property. Every time I come back I drive over the trail of leaves I’ve left behind and then dump the load that I have.
The black piece of metal at the side there is just the back of the dump trailer, its like a jigsaw it just fits in the slot at the back. All in all not a bad job, Jay definitely gets the worst end of the deal.
Trev and Steve came over for a workout tonight then we had dinner. I cooked 4 of the bison medallions that I got from my Costco order with some basmati rice (because I’m low on long grain rice and brown rice is gross - this shit just got real) the basmati recipe that I made had garlic and onion and cumin with peas, it was delicious, with a mixed salad with a homemade balsamic dressing. We are eating REALLY well while isolated and have more fruits and veggies in the fridge than we ever had. We are also saving a crap tonne of money on take out and going out for dinner. Tomorrow I’m making jerk chicken and Greek salad. I bet we save enough this month in eating out to offset our increased grocery bill by double. No joke. And so much for not drinking as much...Jay “somehow this feels wrong”..”Its not right”.
I foresee the Coronacount to go up to 500,000 by tomorrow. My Mom sent me a video today of Trumps Calendar where he is making statements about COVID-19 since February and essentially said it was nothing and it would go away on its own until he flipped on around March 16th and said “Its a pandemic and I’ve been saying its a pandemic long before anyone called it a pandemic”. He’s such an idiot.
Jay decided to give the dogs a bath, we put a shower in the downstairs bathroom for this reason with a sprayer head on a hose so that we can give them baths here instead of taking them to pet valu.
Doesn’t she look pretty?
The numbers before bed today:
Someone left the light on in the hallway and as I was going to sleep (like I’ve read for 45 minutes and now the lights are going off sleep) Paige asked for a massage on her calf because Sophie had charlie horsed her, by accident, on the trampoline earlier and it hurt. Once she got in her room I asked her to turn out the hall light (Jay did the massage by the way, I was feigning sleep) (and by me asking her to turn out the light I actually mean I poked Jay in the shoulder and whispered for him to ask her to turn off the light so as not to give up the ruse). She went full on ballistic and a shouting match, which I “slept” through, ensued between the two bedrooms. Finally I said “You have to each say 5 nice things about your sister”. Paige said “There is nothing nice about my sister except for her looks!” HAHAHA. “She has nice eyes, nice hair, a nice nose and a nice sister”. That’s only 4. We gave them until the count of 10 to get up and turn the light out or they had to do an hours worth of work with Jay tomorrow outside in exchange for a ride to the Faust’s or a pick up of the Faust’s...they did it on 11..when will they ever learn? I’m so tired of the “Why do I have to” and “That’s not mine” when they get so much with so little work or effort in return.
Sophie started calling me...”Mom”...”Mom”. “mom” “Dana” “mom” “mom” “mom” “mom” “mom” “Dana” “mom” “mom” “mom” “mother” “mom” “mom”. She wants to plead her case for not getting up to turn off the light and why should she have to do the hour work. Jay finally said “Sophie, she’s asleep” “What, How? How is that even possible?” Its not. But I can fake it.
