Physical Distancing - Day 60 (Day 74)

I woke up just before 8am this morning and decided instead of a workout I would cut the grass today. Little did I know that it would take me ALL DAY!

Before I got out of bed I came across this and sent it to Trev.

After about an hour of cutting the grass my watch died.  I was using my AirPods to listen to music off of my watch so I think that that was draining the battery because I usually get a whole day out of my watch battery.  The backyard looks nice.

And it was a crap tonne of steps!  In the following 3 hours I only took another 700 steps.  Haha! Its now 9:30pm and I’m at 19735.  I don’t think that’s right because I made dinner during that time as well.  We had Buddha bowls again at the request of the girls.

This afternoon we ran some errands while it was starting to rain - we went to the dump, we went to get after bite for Sophie, we went and had lunch at McDonalds (drive thru), we stopped and picked up dog treats from the Itty Bitty Baker (Makayla Cochran) who is selling a dozen for $3 so we bought some to support her, we dropped my phone off to Lisa Brooks because Natasha broke hers yesterday and my old one is for sale - I told her I was going to drop the price today to $350 because I hadn’t had any bites and Natasha was happy about that.  We were supposed to go to the Bridge Social to pick up some coffee curbside but time got away from us so we’ll stop by tomorrow.

Oh and Paige ran away.  She packed a bag and walked down the driveway - she had a mess of a day today, nothing was going her way and it culminated with Jay saying there wasn’t enough room on our bed for her when we were resting and Sophie was in the bed.  I took the car down and talked to her - now that they’re getting older (and anxiety is so linked to depression) I don’t want to go the “fine, run away” route that we used to use when she was 6 and went to the end of the driveway - but I also don’t want her doing this just for attention because its a pain in the ass.  So I went down and talked to her, said that I was sorry that she was feeling this way and I’d like to talk about it but that also we would talk about the appropriateness of her decision to choose this course of action.  A pick up truck stopped behind my truck on the side of the road to make sure we were ok (we were still on our property but away from the driveway), I told him we were fine, thanks for checking - and then he did a 3 point turn on the road to turn back to town (he had obviously driven by the first time and turned around to check on us which was really nice)..I explained to her that it was dangerous for him to do that, to turn around in the street, and he did it to check on her - she just thought it was embarrassing so came back up the hill but didn’t come in the house.  She did join us for dinner but it was at he other end of the table.  Sophie was being supportive of Paige but at some point we had to tell her to just leave her alone because, again, I don’t want this to be her ‘go to’ solution.  We’ll chat about it tomorrow when she’s come and explain it wasn’t appropriate and not acceptable to choose to handle her feelings that way.

Today’s numbers - Uxbridge went up by 2 more, its the residents at Reachview which is really sad:

Physical Distancing - Day 59 (Day 73)

Thursday

Woke up at 9am so didn’t work out.  I had some work to do today for mortgage clients so worked on that.

We played a Game of Life this morning between me working on mortgage and real estate stuff.

Sophie’s fairy delivered her gift this morning so she was very excited.  We’ve got a lot of use out of the boomerang thing.

Sophie’s had a couple of big bug bites the last few days so we have to stop by the drug store and pick up some after bite.

We took a little while to get the Jack Box set up on the TV and the app on the AppleTV wouldn’t work so ended up mirroring my iPad and getting it to work from the app on the iPad.

After playing some JackBox Jay took Paige and went to drop milk (I bought milk and we still had 2 bags of milk left so totally didn’t need it) and pizza that we didn’t like either, so we dropped them to the Acorns house.  Ellie gave Paige this nice bouquet of lilacs.  Paige took a photo of them in her room.

Today’s numbers - Uxbridge went up again, Brazil is in trouble:

Physical Distancing - Day 58 (Day 72)

Sophie and I got up this morning for workout, about 8:30am.

I had training today at 1pm for Re/Max, a coaching seminar that I signed up for - so I did that via zoom from 1 - 2.

We did our final pick up today for the girls COVID fairy gifts.  This is Paige’s gift for Emma including some candy, sun bum hand sanitizer, sun bum chapstick, some Skor bits and our recipe for Skor cookies and a succulent plant.

At 5 Paige and I headed to Port to pick up some beer at Old Flame that I ordered and was ready for curbside pick up, while we were on our way Juls called to see if we were doing take out - I made Paella and Favourite Rice (basically fried rice) for dinner tonight so invited them over.  I had more than enough made because I always do enough for leftovers.  Its a fairly easy set of dinners to do and, again, something we all like.  I would rather just do one dinner but Sophie likes the fried rice and its super easy to make since all I do is steam rice and then add the peas and eggs to it and seasoning.  It can be made while the paella is cooking so its not really a big deal.

I got a nice text from Sophie’s recipient’s Mom as we were having dinner, she said that her daughter is almost 11 but still believes in Santa and believes that a real fairy dropped her off a gift today and so was very excited about her gift!

We played SuperTock after dinner.  The boys won 3 of the 4 games so now we’re behind by another game in the series, I think that puts us behind by 7 now.

Physical Distancing - Day 57 (Day 71)

It really is amazing that we haven’t killed each other yet, or really been too snotty.  I don’t think I’ve even said “whatever” once yet!  For the most part its not like Jay is even home, he’s working from 9-3 or 4pm just like normal, just at the dining room table instead of at the office.  We’re making it work.  Having lots of stuff to do around the property definitely helps for him and we’re trying to keep a normal schedule where we’re both working and keeping the house somewhat clean.

I woke up this morning at 8am but I didn’t workout today.  I wasn’t sore from yesterday’s workout yet, I just didn’t want to.  So I scrolled through FB for an hour and then I got up, got dressed and got moving.

The girls are part of a kids secret fairy exchange so they have 2 girls, 11 and 12, they’re buying for. They wanted to buy succulents for them as part of their gifts so we went to Century Home and Garden this morning in Port Perry and picked out 10 mini succulents for $50 and then went to the Dollar Store in Uxbridge to look for pots.  The girls came with me, we all wore our masks inside the stores and the girls didn’t touch anything, anytime they made a choice I picked it up and put it in our basket.

Two more things I learned, the owls weren’t today but recently.

I put my old iPhone up for sale - trying to get $400 but it doesn’t look like it since no one messaged me.  I’ll try for $300 and see.

The girls thought that Willow looked cute with her tongue sticking out.

That’s a little creepy.

Some more fun on the trampoline today - its been HOT this week.

We had Buddha bowls for dinner tonight - Matthew sent a photo of their tacos and I had dinner on the bbq so I took some pictures too and sent them back to him.

The Buddha Bowls were a hit with everyone, another dinner we call enjoy.  We have quinoa, tomatoes, lettuce, strawberries, chicken, peppers, feta and avocado and then I had an Asian salad dressing I made with soy sauce and rice vinegar, garlic, oil and sugar.  It was delicious.

Physical Distancing - Day 56 (Day 70)

56 Days since our 14 day self-isolation ended after coming home early from Florida.  Seems crazy.

Things are starting to open, people are either calm or anxious about it - I’m kind of in the middle.  I’m concerned about the relaxing of all of the restrictions only because I think that lots of people weren’t really taking it seriously before and now its just back to normal them.  Some people are still joking about the virus, some people think the government is trying to control everything they do, some people are concerned the second wave means additional lock downs while others think there will never be a second lock down because the economies can’t afford it, some are more concerned about what all this support money means for taxes and income taxes for years (generations) to come, some people think that China manufactured and released the virus as a biological weapon and have a vaccine because none of their top military or government contracted it and it never had a stronghold in Shanghai or Beijing - - I’m happy that I live in a small town, with a little bit of space, where people are taking it seriously in their own ways.  Some wear masks, some don’t but most people respect the 6’ distancing, respect the virus and respect each other.  Most people are relaxing a bit as far as who they will see, what they are doing, and that’s ok.

I’m glad I’m not in the city - for one it would just be hard to be living in a condo or someplace like that where there is literally no where to go, especially if you didn’t have a balcony.  This was all over the news on the weekend because the weather was beautiful and thousands of people went to the park.

I went downstairs this morning and did my workout.  It was a good one, I bet my shoulders will be sore tomorrow.

After my workout today I finished up the blog from the last couple of days and finished up some work.

Myah was over this afternoon for some more fun on the trampoline and Dave finally came to cut the grass.  We’re having him cut the grass every two weeks and then we’ll do around the house again in the interim.

I sat outside yesterday in the sun and then in the shade while the girls played on the trampoline and in the sprinkler.

I took chicken out of the freezer for dinner but then it wasn’t thawed completely so we ended up just having leftovers from the freezer for dinner and will make. Buddha bowl for dinner tomorrow night with the chicken and quinoa that I cooked today.

Paige took my phone out and took some photos.

Sophie took some too a little later.

Then Paige took some more - I love dandelions.

Today’s numbers. Uxbridge went up by 3:

Day 6 - Tour of a local Island

I set my alarm for 8am today because Jay and I have booked a tour to a local island by speed boat and it leaves around 10am.  I wake up ever...
