Physical Distancing - Day 29 (Day 43)

7:30am this morning!  I woke up again before 7 and just rested in bed.  When the alarm went off I went in to wake up Sophie as its her day for the treadmill.  She wasn’t surly but she didn’t just pop out of bed either!

This one is when she thought I wasn’t looking!

And when she was finished her legs ‘gave out’ and she landed on the floor in a heap.  She did a good job, minimal complaining.

I took a photo of what she accomplished so that Paige can try to beat it tomorrow!  Nothing like a little, healthy competition.

Upstairs, got dressed and its time for school to start!  The girls both have their day by day plans done so we just check off what they’ve done for the day.

Had our smoothie again today - ice, almond milk, vanilla yogurt (if the girls are having some), 2 bananas, peanut butter and chocolate protein powder.  We have it every morning, its so good.  I usually don’t have lunch and the girls don’t either because we aren’t hungry, then they have a snack mid-afternoon before dinner.  They probably need more to eat during the day but they’ve never been big eaters and they’re having a healthy helping of dinner.

I finished off my course this morning and registered for the second part.  I can’t do it until May 19th. I could have done it on May 4th but it conflicted with another webinar that I really wanted to do so I just decided to do it on the 19th.  What else do I have to do?  Oh, I have two mandatory courses that I have to do through RECO in the first two years of my licensing, so I looked that up and there are a few options - I can’t tell though if I have a choice between all of the available courses or if there are specific ones that I have to take, so I emailed them to find out.  Now, I wait.  What else do I have to do?  Oh, I have to do my taxes, UGH.  So, pull out everything that I need, run through my credit cards and my bank account statements and created my spreadsheet to send to the accountant today.

Now its 2pm and time to go to Mom’s for a walk.  The dogs know as soon as I say “do you want to get in the truck and see Eddie?” They run for the garage door.  Willow attacks Sage as soon as we get there, as soon as Eddie starts to play with them, which is typically how she plays when there are 3 dogs.   As I was leaving Julia S called and let me know that the Uxbridge Times Journal wants to do a  story on the gowns we did and she gave them my number.  We’ll see.

We got home and I did a couple of things for work and then we went outside and played some badminton.  I got these rackets on Amazon, its called Speedminton, and they’ve been really fun to play with.  It was a little windy today which made it more difficult but I played for a bit with Paige tonight.  I went inside and made dinner (chicken casserole) and Paige had a mini meltdown because she has had yogurt in the fridge in a bowl since yesterday morning that I was making her eat.  So instead of just eat it she left it out this afternoon and instead of just eating it before dinner she added MORE to it so that it was thicker and so now she had MORE yogurt that I was making her eat.  So she ended up not eating dinner with us and after dinner I threw it out, she had dinner on her own and we went into town to get ice cream and drop off a few things (more sheets to Debbie on Chris and Laura’s porch and some cupboard organizers that I was getting rid of that Sarah Corey said she would take).  Wendy’s didn’t have any Frosty available so we went to Tim Hortons and I got an Ice Cap while Sophie got a chocolate chip muffin and an Iced Lemonade and Jay got two chocolate glazed donuts.

Jay’s Ironman just got rescheduled, he got an email notification. It was at the end of July, they haven’t advised when it will be rescheduled for at this point but I cancelled our Airbnb in Sonoma County and when we know when it will be rescheduled to I’ll rebook it and change our flights.  Thankfully I booked one with free cancellation up until 2 weeks prior because I’m not sure if I would have been able to cancel it due to COVID this far out, I’m not sure what the policy looks like.  It was a super cute little house, I’m disappointed we won’t be going.  Jay’s taking it pretty well right now, he doesn’t want to give up the training until he knows when it will be but he doesn’t want to ramp it up to full training mode either if its not going to be this year.

Paige made me a drink.  Its my refresher.  I said “All this ice is going to slide towards my face and end everywhere. Its not functional”..”it looks good though” she replied.  Yes, yes it does.

9:25pm, time to go to bed and read my book.

Tomorrow is National Take Out Day - we’ve been eating at home so much its actually nice to have a set take out night!  Every other night I cook or BBQ.  Maybe we’ll get Smokehouse tomorrow, I like the pulled pork and coleslaw...Paige wants pizza.

Physical Distancing - Day 28 (Day 42)

I set the alarm and got up at 7:30am this morning.  Actually the sun woke me up at about 6:45 so I didn’t even need the alarm but I stayed in bed until 7:30.

Paige had a meltdown yesterday - she had ipadittude (the attitude given with removal of a device of some kind) and ended up giving Jay the finger on her way down stairs.  Unfortunately for her he has good peripheral vision.  So she was sent to her room and when it came time for bed she wouldn’t turn off her light or shut her door and so we gave her the choice, she could stay up but that meant I was waking her up at 7:30am to come and do my workout with me.  It was a struggle, but she came down - she went on the treadmill for the 30 minutes that I did my workout and we decided that every other day she and Sophie will do the treadmill while I workout so that they can keep their cardio up for soccer, just in case the season end up a go.

I decided to start my TREB training today, I have 3 courses that I can do.  I got all set and my notebook for studying is full so I trekked into the Dollar Store to pick up pens and note books so that I could get a good start.  While I was out I picked up my hand sanitizer from T Langhans, a local shop that makes natural soaps and products - I got one for me and one for Julia.

I was all set!  I almost finished the first course today, I have about 20 minutes left.

We got our new glasses delivered!  Over the course of the last week we’ve broken 3 glasses so I ordered some that I found online, one of the 8 larger ones was chipped around the top so I sent them an email to request a new one.

We also had a badminton set delivered that I ordered on Amazon!

At 1pm I got myself settled for a webinar I wanted to watch.  It ended up being a dud.

After the webinar I did some more of my course and then went up to Mom and Dad’s to have a walk with Carrie and Mom.  I take the dogs up and they play with Eddie and we walk around the property twice which is about a 25 minute walk and then we sat on the back deck today chatting because it was a nice day.

When we got home Sophie and I went out and played badminton.  Paige asked since I was being “fun Mom” would I go on the trampoline, I said no, because then I would be “fun wet mom who smells like urine”.  So instead I had a cider!

I suggested to Jay that 2 more of these freezie mugs would be a good Mothers’ Day present and two more of the double walled Moscow Mule mugs I bought that came today with the glasses.  The girls have stolen them as their favourite mugs now.  I thought they came as a set of 2 and so I bought 2 but they’re individual.  They’re double walled, which I like, so they don’t sweat and keep the drink colder.

On the way back home from Mom’s earlier I stopped at the Meat Merchant and picked up some Chilli Lime sausage for dinner.  I went in to see if they had the Jerk but he said they didn’t. He actually said that he told his sausage maker that no one would buy the Jerk and they shouldn’t make it and then I came in for it specifically!  Haha.  I also picked up the pasta salad while I was there and pizza sausage which the guy says is amazing so we’ll try it maybe as an app with some marinara sauce.

After dinner we just chilled. The girls decided they would embrace the 7:30 workout and both plan to get up. We’ll see.

Physical Distancing - Day 27 (Day 41)

Jay went for a run this morning with Steve and then we went to Century Gardens in Port Perry to pick up some vegetable plants and seeds for the garden.  On the way home we curbside picked up cider at Slabtown Cider in Uxbridge which opened last year.  I ordered online and decided to try 4 ciders, the Sweet Maple Heat and Black Currant I’ve never seen before but I sampled the Mint Cucumber and Cherry last summer when they opened.  They have a whole new expansion building that was just opening before the pandemic with a restaurant and wood fired pizza, so hopefully they’re able to sustain over the isolation period.

Dave Barton, the Mayor, asked for them to try to distill some hand sanitizer so they added a little contraption that makes it.  This smells like shit.  Smells like its killing something though so that’s good.  There are 3 ingredients - 70% ethanol, glycerin and hydrogen peroxide - no shit its flammable so be careful.  I pick up my T Langhan’s sanitizer tomorrow so Jay can have one of these for his car and we’ll put one just at the back door in the garage.

We never would have had sanitizer before.

Plants for the garden.

I also got this nice little succulent which I’m hoping I don’t kill too quickly.  Jay says that if I keep it alive I can get another one (he said the same thing about the kids but I tricked him with twins!).  The lady at Century Home and Garden Greenhouses in Port Perry said that it needs 1/4 c of water every 3 weeks.  I bet it can survive on half that.

I got an email from my neighbour, Julie, this afternoon to let me know that Bell is now available at her house so she would guess its available for me too.  I called Bell and they can do 25 mbps download for $59 a month for the first 6 months and then $79 a month after with a 350G cap on wifi usage and a $59 one time set up fee.  So I called Vianet, who we are using now and who is 10 mbps download at $79 a month to see what our recent usage is - we are usually about 100-150G per month but being off this month our total was 478G and March was 300G, but we were away for 5 days in March.  Jay wants to do it anyway but I don’t want to be hassling the girls about being off the internet because we only get 350G I would rather have slower but unlimited.  Every G after 350G is $4/G up to $100.  He says he can just take his phone off wifi and I probably can as well, I have 20G of data on my phone so I could probably just use my data instead of wifi.

I prepared a movie out of the short videos and photos that Julia has recorded and sent me, photos were collected throughout the isolation gown project.  It was a trial and error process and I needed some help from the girls but the final product was really great.  Then I had trouble getting it to Julia - I’m not sure if it was because of the size or my internet speed, but I tried sending it as a Mail Drop Attachment and as an iCloud link.  We’ll see if she gets it and then go from there!  I ended up getting a video compressor and sending it to her through FB Messenger.  Once we have permission from the long term care facilities to share the photos they sent us we’ll post it to FB.

They announced today that school won’t be opening until at least the end of May and will be re-evaluated again as that timeline approaches.

I sent Paige outside to take some fashion shots of the sun shining off the tops of the trees around the property when I noticed it from the kitchen window as I was washing my hands.  She likes to use my phone, she took 2 and came in saying “its raining”..so I went out and got some.

Its 8:45pm, I’m going to go read my book.  Tomorrow I have to do TRREB training, there are 3 courses I have to take in the next 90 days, we’ll probably 86 days now.  Usually the first one is online and the second and third are mandatory attendance in Toronto but now they’re all available online.  I also can do my two mandatory courses that I have to do in the next two years as part of my licensing now, while I have time.  I have a two webinars I’m signed up for this week, Monday and Wednesday, and I want to get some more of my CRM done since I essentially took a month off from that during the gown organization and as I progressively stayed in bed longer and longer last week!

Tomorrow I’ll get up and do the workout at 8am!

Creepy Facebook ad popped up on my feed. Jay and Steve had Old Fashioneds last night.
