Got up this morning, Saturday April 11th, and did a work out with Carrie-Lyn and Maria at 9am. I was SO tired, I kept waking up thinking its got to be close to my alarm going off but it wasn’t and I was so happy and went back to sleep but then kept waking up every 45 mins or so to check the time anyway. At 7:45am I finally turned my alarm, set for 8:30am, off and decided to just sleep. I woke up at 8:33am and got out of bed to do it.
I was sore from yesterday so wanted one of the Balance workouts so Maria suggested either Yoga Flow or Tai Chi so I said Tai Chi - it was good, I liked it. Heart rate didn’t get up but it was a good stretch which is what I wanted today.
A couple of funny memes today:
2020 was actually a leap year, which is why this is funny.
I went to Vince’s this morning, I want to get green beans to take to Julia’s tomorrow for Easter dinner and I figured they would have them. This is the second grocery shop I have done since we’ve been in isolation and distancing (25 days), Vince’s was way better than going to Zehrs from a stress perspective. I went in and ran into Chas there so chatted for a few minutes. There is a line up to get in, it took me about 10 minutes to get inside, which I forgot about, we probably shouldn’t have chatted so long since there were people lined up outside. While I was there I picked up a few more things, including picking up the stuff I need to make my holiday morning French toast bake! (Canadian living Blueberry French Toast Bake is what I have to google every time I want to make the recipe). I had been thinking for the last few days I won’t be able to make it and was a little disappointed because its become a tradition for Easter and Christmas morning, but since I had to go in anyway I got everything so we have that to look forward to tomorrow morning!
While I was in Vince’s I got a notice that my Zehrs PC Express pick up was ready so I went and picked it up. My neighbour Kerry had mentioned last week that she couldn’t get ground beef anywhere so I added it to my PC order for her and figured if I got it, bonus. I did. They also substituted my flank steak for chuck tender cuts, which I don’t even know what that is but I knew Kerry also wanted stewing beef so asked if she wanted that as well. I dropped them both of to her place and she e-transferred me.
She asked me if I wanted any flour or cream cheese in return and I said no, but that if Derek goes to Costco again if he could grab me two packs of flank steak that would be great.
I brought all the groceries home and asked the girls to put them all away while I went to Markham to drop off a work out band to Maria and then pick up choir gowns that someone donated to me to give to Pam for her friend in Collingwood - she will alter them to be a little less cumbersome and they might be a little warm but better than nothing. Then dropped another band to a client of Carrie’s in Richmond Hill which ended up being in Oakridges which was no where near where I thought it was and not even close to where I was but that’s ok.
Proof of delivery. Lol
Got home and the girls had put away MOST of the groceries. Jay has been painting the last couple of days, all the trim in the basement, the doors and then today the ceiling in the spare bedroom and the walls. He asked me “Do you want to paint the basement?” I said “No”. So he did it on his own, I just have to cut in the wall colour to the ceiling tomorrow. He’s done SO much around the house since we’ve been home - a lot of work on the property with all the leaves, the garden boxes, painting.
I ordered Mars Bars in my PC pick up but the girls didn’t want Mars Rice Krispie squares again so we decided on Mars Brownies and we’ll take some to the Faust’s tomorrow. But it ended up more like a cake than brownies - it looked REALLY loose when the batter was finished so I added another 1/4 cup of flour which is probably what switched them from a brownie to a cake. But you can’t take cut up pieces of cake (brownie is fine, take pieces on a plate and no one is the wiser if you enjoyed some) to someone’s house so now we have to leave the cake as is, unmolested, to the Faust’s tomorrow. I might make caramel sauce but I have a feeling it won’t be needed.
Mom, Maria and I had an impromptu HouseParty video call and I mentioned I didn’t get any of the McLaren’s cheese in my Zehrs order so I would go to Vince’s again on Monday so that I could get it - Mom said that she had been thinking that she would make Carrie some cheese crackers for her birthday, which is tomorrow, so I said that if she goes to Vince’s today and drops me off the cheese I’ll bake the crackers and take them over to Carrie tomorrow. So she did, and I pulled a card out of my Big Box of Birthday Cards (which was a fundraiser for Anna) and we all signed it so I can drop it all of together.
Sophie and I played a couple of games of Karma and then Jay joined us for two games. Later, after dinner, Paige, Jay and I played Quiddler, which is a word game. Paige said something about a single letter she had that didn’t fit into her hand “It’s so lonely, just like Uncle Trevor must be off the island”. Jay said Patricia is there, so he’s not that lonely. I told him yesterday to count backwards from Cinco de Mayo if he wants to participate he has to have been isolated for 14 days. I don’t think that its going to happen.
Numbers for today.
